Do you love what you do, #medlibs? Then show it, and show it brightly. You never know...you might be the person that inspires someone else to explore the wonderful world of librarianship. #mlanet18 #librarygeek #notetoself

@MeganJantos As Mayor Scott notes in his statement, the collapse of the Key Bridge in Baltimore forever altered the lives of six families. This statement constructs the identity anchor of a community unified in not just grief but in recovery.
What I love about this statement is that it is both genuine and full of empathy. Through word choice, it does a solid job of not just offering support but also refocusing the goal of the recovery process without taking away from the sobering reason for the statement.

@MeganJantos NHTSA's "Never Happens - Forgotten" video transforms a familiar part of the new parent experience into the backdrop against which, in a distracted moment, a horrible tragedy can occur. youtu.be/IrmeYF6sPIo?si=LBDJ…
@MeganJantos As a newly-minted parent, I remember saying, "I'll never [insert thing here]." The ad's use of the relatable nature of these other experiences to make the point that this "can" happen makes it powerful and effective.

@MeganJantos, I was thankful not to have been seriously affected by the CrowdStrike outage, though a family member worked a lot of overtime the days afterward. That said, the post itself evokes a feeling of indifferent acceptance.
Today was not a security or cyber incident. Our customers remain fully protected.
We understand the gravity of the situation and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption. We are working with all impacted customers to ensure that systems are back up and they can deliver the services their customers are counting on.
As noted earlier, the issue has been identified and a fix has been deployed. There was an issue with a Falcon content update for Windows Hosts.
For the latest information that we will continuously update, please refer to the CrowdStrike website (crowdstrike.com/blog/stateme…), my posts on LinkedIn, and my posts on X. I will continue to provide updates to our community and the industry as they become available.
Is the warning meant to discourage me from using the ICE while the car is moving? Because it doesn’t. GA has a hands-free law, and so I don’t touch my cell phone. But I sure do tap playlists, input directions, and whatever else CarPlay will let me do.
What is the warning really meant to accomplish? Yes, distracted driving is dangerous and can lead to death. For sure, pay attention to the road. I am struggling to come up with a reason for the warning, other than liability. It could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn’t miss it.
A class assignment has me posting a warning or disclosure from my life here in X. I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that it took a week of me starting my car, sometimes multiple times a day, to notice this one. 😳 @MeganJantos
This was one of my favorite Reading Rainbow songs. 🎶Check it ouuuuut🎶 (check it out, check it out, check it out, don't shout) #libraries
There is quite the disconnect between their X messaging and their Facebook messaging on the recalls. 🤔 #CrisisCommunication

today I learned that the Big Three (APA, Chicago, MLA) have all established a citation standard for ChatGPT generated text. They say putting the company behind the generator (e.g. OpenAI) and the date you generated it counts, even though the text is not replicable or searchable
Since becoming a distance learner, librarians have been remarkably absent from my university experience. As someone who was all up in #libraries until a couple of years ago, this is wild to me. Outreach to distance learners is nonexistent. We get some links in D2L and that’s it.
Now, I have a crazy high level of library literacy. I know where to go, how to navigate the resources, and how to seek out a librarian for help with a project. But that’s me. What about my peers? Who is doing the outreach to them?
As a distance learner , I am 100% about this. These updated standards represent a focus on serving distance and online learners that has, IMO, sorely lacking in the #library world.
