Today, SCOTUS hears Suncor v. Boulder. A ruling for Boulder exposes all types of businesses to similar shakedowns over worldwide emissions from any of the 50 states or roughly 40,000 local governments. The targets go well beyond oil and gas: utilities, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, even tech could be next. Honored to have a piece in @PostOpinions today on what’s at stake.

The unintended consequences of a diesel export ban could disproportionately hit American independent producers in ways many may not expect—but the economics are straightforward. @SPGlobal estimates that an outright ban could strand roughly 1.5 million barrels per day of diesel domestically and ultimately force U.S. refiners to cut crude oil runs by approximately 1.9 million barrels per day. For the smallest independent producers, with fewer assets and less financial flexibility, a sharp reduction in refinery demand could put drilling, investment and continued production under significant pressure. IPAA was at the forefront of the effort to lift the nation’s decades-old crude oil export ban in 2015, and that experience underscores why independent producers have long focused on the effects of export restrictions on domestic investment. #energyproduction #smallbusinesses #energypolicy #oilandgas #independentproducers #diesel

Fracking has shielded Americans from global energy shocks. If progressives had succeeded in their campaign to block fracking and LNG exports, Americans would be paying significantly more for heating, electricity and gasoline. wsj.com/opinion/how-americas…

Ahead of tonight’s #SOTU, API President & CEO @mj_sommers has a clear message: American energy is strong. ✅Record oil and natural gas production. ✅10 years since the first U.S. LNG export from the Gulf Coast. ✅Real policy progress restoring leasing, supporting consumer choice, and ensuring America is open for energy investment. Now we’ve entered the Demand Decade — an era that will require more infrastructure to get energy from where it’s produced to where it’s needed. If Congress is serious about affordability and American energy leadership, it’s time to pass bipartisan permitting reform and build. Let’s get it done.
