At the Prime Minister’s Office, Islamabad, PVARA engaged with leading technology entrepreneurs, financial innovators, and digital asset builders to discuss the future of finance, regulatory innovation, and the expansion of Pakistan’s virtual assets sandbox.
The 2018 ban on Pakistani banks dealing with crypto just got quietly buried.
One SBP circular. One sentence. Eight years of "SBP says no" — reversed:
"SBP Regulated Entities may open bank accounts of entities duly licensed by PVARA."

I've been staring at two things this week that I can't stop connecting. Pakistan's 100-year-old Co-operative Societies model.And a #Web3 governance framework called a BORG. Hear me out 🧵👇
A law from 1925 shouldn't govern programmable community capital in 2025.
But it might be the most pragmatic starting point.
BORG says: work within the legal system. Upgrade it from the inside.
That's not compromise. That's strategy.
This isn't theoretical for me.
Pakistan's first DAO/BORG pilot could be built around an industry guild or tech cluster — in compliance with existing law.
