Today, we had 67. En3Lab Scientific Meeting Shayan Shitreh made an informative presentation on “From Istanbul to Delft and Beyond: An Erasmus+ Journey Through AnMBR Research with Conductive Nanomaterials, European Travel, and Cultural Discovery”. Thank you for great presentation.
Prof. Mustafa Evren Erşahin from our research group participated in the 11th Urban Studies Congress, held on 12–14 October 2026 at TOBB University of Economics and Technology. We thank the Institute of Urban Studies, Esenler City Thinking Center and the congress organizers.
New paper co-authored by members of our research group is out in the Journal of Material Cycles and Waste Management! Based on post-2023 earthquake fieldwork in Malatya, the study assesses unit-area debris values to guide future disaster and waste management.

Today we had 66. En3Lab Scientific Meeting Muhammed Nimet HAMİDİ made an informative presentation on “Treatment of Rainwater-Greywater Mixtures Using UF and MF Membranes: Treatment Efficiency and Membrane Behaviour”. We would like to thank him for the great presentation.
New research published in Algal Research. The study explored Spirulina platensis cultivation using ion exchange-pretreated human urine and compared PVDF and PES membranes for biomass harvesting. Findings highlight their potential for sustainable algal biomass production.
New paper published in Separation and Purification Technology. The study investigated the harvesting of microalgal biomass cultivated using anaerobic membrane bioreactor permeate, comparing polyvinylidene fluoride and polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranes.
New paper published in Process Safety and Environmental Protection. The study investigated the valorization of source-separated human urine as a nutrient medium for microalgal cultivation, using ion exchange to reduce ammonium without relying on freshwater-based dilution.
A research article was recently published in Bioresource Technology, investigating the co-digestion of sewage sludge and food waste in an AnMBR. The findings demonstrate enhanced methane recovery, reduced operational costs in WWTPs, and implications for effluent quality.
Today, Mustafa GÜL, Abdullah ÇATALTAŞ and Serkan ANACAK (SÜTAŞ), along with Ahmet MUSLUOĞLU (Hochreiter Biogas), visited our laboratories. We discusseddairy wastewater research, potential collaborations, and futurestudies. We would like to thank them for their kind visit.

From our research group Reza FARAJI DIZAJI successfully defended his MSc Thesis on “The Effect of Water Treatment Plant Sludge Addition to the Performance of A Pilot-Scale High-Rate Activated Sludge System". Congratulations on his great achievement, and best wishes to his future.
