i'm not sure exactly what is the misconception here yet, but it seems VERY outlandish that Japan would not produce a piece of pop-culture where a "ruler of demons/evil spirits" would be called "魔王" before Tolkien became a presence in Japan.

I have a hunch there is one piece of work (as always, with these things) that covered that before Tolkien was first ever translated into Japanese... I'll check that one when I have a little more time.

My cope with Castlevania is that the timeline was already pretty much completed with most of the gaps already being filled, the 1999 war is a bit of a sore spot but at this point it's probably best to just leave that to the imagination.

Oh and up there I say the 400 years between LoI and CVIII fits 5 games, right? Between CVIII and SotN it's 400 years. In that time, there's: -CV3 -Curse -Adventure -Revenge -CV1 -CV2 -Harmony -Rondo -SotN ...imagine now in the period I mentioned, where freedom is wider.
