Lagos needs roughly 10,000–12,000 MW of capacity to fully meet demand for its ~20 million residents and economy (current grid supply is under 1,000 MW).
A 480 MW powership like Osman Khan would supply only a fraction. Acquiring a similar vessel costs an estimated $400–700 million in capital. Leasing via long-term PPA typically involves capacity payments of $100–200 million per year plus fuel.
Peter Mbah to Atiku and Peter Obi: "...Anybody essentially talking about bringing back subsidy, for me I would regard it as a pathetic misconception..." - Governor of Enugu State
"...Before the bold and courageous decision made by President Bola Tinubu, we were almost at an economic precipice in this country. I'm sure you knew what the ways and means we had accumulated. We're talking about over 27 trillion ways and means... But for the courageous decision the President... today we have a reserve that can sustain us for the next 10 to 11 months. Our foreign reserve today is about 58 billion, the highest in almost two decades. Now, you look at our foreign exchange..." - Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State
Is it just me, or that does not look like tear gas?
How are people so close and not reacting?
Looks like just smoke.
Unless this "tear gas" is not the one we grew up knowing.
Everyone just casually standing around and not irritated? 🤔
They are normalising this bullying system of governance that has come to describe what the APC government has become, and the citizen is going to have to really understand what is at stake here because we need a government that actually understands that lives were lost on this day. Innocent citizens were killed.

Allow o! 😆
How is saving money meant for projects and development an achievement?
Was there nothing else to do with the money - no social intervention, no roads to fix, no hospitals to build or renovate, no environmental challenges, no ideas?
What is special is keeping money in a bank when your doctors and lecturers went on strike because of your pay?
Tinubu left N27bn for Fashola. You will never see him mention it.
Those attacking this actually (and clearly) have a comprehension problem. Sadly, these people are also the loudest.
Once many of us hear the word "tax" they start to panic.
How they are deliberately ignoring the part of "when economy stabilizes", and "income improves"...
Na wa!

In my interview with ARISE News, I was clear: a fuel tax is not on the table.
"Having removed the fuel subsidy, it would be insensitive for government to impose a fuel tax at this time."
Some online reports have since twisted this message into a claim that government plans to introduce fuel taxes. That is FAKE NEWS.

Exactly… the coastal road has been a talked about project since 1959, before we even got our independence.
Now a Yoruba son is achieving that milestone in less than 4 years.
And it must pass all the Niger delta costal states. No exceptions! 🙅🏾♂️

My dear brother Donald Duke @Donald_Duke,
Some years ago, you and I travelled along the stretch of the coastline where this road now runs, and I clearly remember your praise for the vision behind it. That is why your recent comments surprised me.
Yes, the Coastal Highway is expensive. We agree on that. But nothing of lasting value in this world is cheap or free. Great nations are built by leaders willing to make bold, costly investments that will serve generations yet unborn.
Mr. President committed to funding this project, and he is keeping that commitment. There is no funding shortfall. The work is progressing, and the quality of construction is second to none.
When Governor Douye Diri commended the road, he was not speaking as a local champion; he was speaking as a statesman who recognises infrastructure of international standard when he sees it. I agree with him completely.
Donald, I understand that you are running for president, and that your statement is political. That is the nature of the season, and I respect your right to make your case to Nigerians. But we must be careful never to undermine a project of national importance, or the President delivering it, simply for political advantage.
When mankind went to the moon, it was neither cheap nor free. But it was necessary. So is this road.

In 2008, Professor Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), hosted a fundraiser at Lagos’s MUSON Centre to mobilise support for Barack Obama’s US presidential campaign. The event raised ₦100 million.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, according to TheNEWS, said it violated US law prøhibiting foreign nationals from funding American elections. Obama’s campaign distanced itself from the event, saying neither Obama nor the Democratic National Committee was involved and that they would not accept any funds raised.
The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) warned that the event could compromise the NSE’s political neutrality and asked Okereke-Onyiuke to explain her role. The Economic and Fïnancial Crïmes Commission (EFCC) later arrested her in Abuja.
Okereke-Onyiuke denied raising money for Obama. She said the event was intended to encourage Africans and Nigerians to register and vote in the US election, not to fund his campaign. She also said no corporate organisation had donated money and that she had paid some expenses herself.
The event reportedly charged ₦2.5 million for platinum tables and ₦2 million for gold tables, while individuals paid ₦325,000 and ₦275,000 respectively.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Nigerians should be able to report accurately what public polling-unit result sheets show.
My letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)@inecnigeria, dated 12 October 2026, addresses a distinction I believe matters: formal declaration is INEC’s responsibility. Accurate reporting of records already in the public domain is a separate act.
I rely on Section 39(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, and Sections 25 and 124(4) of the Electoral Act 2026. My argument is not that anyone should declare results in INEC’s place. It is that publication and scrutiny should not be mistaken for formal declaration. The INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) makes this question concrete. If citizens, journalists, political parties and observers can view authentic polling-unit result sheets but cannot be sure whether they may discuss the figures or flag discrepancies, access risks becoming nominal rather than meaningful. Information about INEC results should be accurately sourced and open to public scrutiny.
I refer to a 1984 Lagos High Court decision, Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT & 2 Ors. v. Inspector-General of Police, concerning the publication of results announced at polling centres. To my knowledge, that decision has not been appealed. I also point to the June 12, 1993 presidential election as an example of the value of public visibility.
There is a genuine trade-off: publishing too quickly without verification can be misleading. Accuracy comes first. But that is a reason for clear source labels and a transparent process for correcting discrepancies, not for leaving the public uncertain about what may be reported.
I have asked INEC to explain the steps needed to publish verified records within two hours of the close of polls or completion of counting, where feasible.
What does the 1984 case actually establish, and what practical publication timetable am I asking INEC to explain?
