No charity can replace the dignity of buying your own food. We need to ensure everyone has enough money coming in to cover the cost of essentials. Together we can end the need for food banks #thiscanchange @TrussellTrust dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from: not now, not ever. I am donating to @TrussellTrust and if you can help too then please do… Take care, stay at home and look after one another.

We've seen an incredible wave of support today. Thank you so much to everyone donating to help us reach a future where no one needs a #foodbank. We know #ThisCanChange, but we can't get there alone - thank you so much for your generosity 🙏 > huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/t…
“The explosion of food banks over the past decade is about more than just hunger – it’s about what sort of society Britain has become.”

Today’s #StateOfHunger report by @trusselltrust found 94% of people at #foodbanks are struggling to afford the essentials in life and are facing real destitution. This isn't right. But we know #ThisCanChange. Find out how you can help stateofhunger.org
We can do better than this as a country. Universal Credit should be there to help any of us if we need it - not pushing people into poverty & through the doors of food banks. The first step must be ending the 5 week wait. It’s #5weekstoolong @TrussellTrust mirror.co.uk/news/politics/u…

#UniversalCredit should be there to anchor any of us against the tides of #poverty. But our new research shows the longer Universal Credit exists in an area, the higher the need for #foodbanks. Join us in saying enough is enough > action.trusselltrust.org/5we…
Food banks provide vital support to people in crisis. But there should be absolutely no place for them in our society.

#5WeeksTooLong
The 5 week wait for Universal Credit is pushing more & more people into hardship. We cannot continue to rely on support driven by volunteers & donations to pick up the pieces. It’s #5WeeksTooLong & the Gov must act on 4th Sept 👉 action.trusselltrust.org/5we…
“Without places like this [food bank], children would go hungry.”
How is this acceptable in the world’s 5th largest economy?!
It doesn’t have to be like this. We designed our economy so we can redesign it to work for all #ThisCanChange

“The responsibility to prevent more people being pulled into poverty lies with our Government. We cannot rely on support driven by volunteers and food donations to pick up the pieces, particularly in the event of no-deal.” @TrussellTrust newstatesman.com/politics/br…

#UniversalCreditUncovered Week 1:
#UniversalCredit should be fighting poverty, not forcing people to use #foodbanks. The wait for a first payment is #5WeeksTooLong, the government needs to end it.
