Today, if you want true luxury clothing, I think you have to get it from teeny tiny makers who have not yet expanded and (hopefully) have no interest in doing so. These places have no branding or luxury lifestyle marketing. They are often run by the maker and have small teams

My process usually starts with a sketch, either roughly to just get the vibe across or detailed if I want to work on something something specific, however I often just drape on the stand, letting the fabric speak to me.
This rich cranberry red corset started by draping on the mannequin so that the fabric could fall fluidly, but I did draw up this sketch afterwards so that I could play around with the positioning of the textured elements, that way I could ensure an organic, yet balanced look.
The Underpinnings Museum has also just launched their "Incendiary: A History of Red Lingerie" online exhibition today and my Thea corset makes an appearance!
