I have been playing around with an interesting concept here - the tradeoff curves of capacity vs storage. First for a completely clean + storage system. This is what we need for Ontario for a no FF system, assuming starting from scratch for clarity.

Why is it all a particular orientation of commentator who implicitly can't seem to get the single round vs repeated round distinction? 😏 I wonder...
I'm firmly on team @stephenfgordon , but I really appreciate some of the counterarguments from folks like @trevortombe and @jbsteinberg. There's a lot to think about here. Because other folks have brought up game theory here, a modest contribution to that line of thought. 1/10

If we adjust the cost base for the most recent procurement, assuming $150k/MW and $150k/MWh we get a capacity cost of $540/MW-Bday for 8hr systems.

And revised cost of ELCC, and incremental costs of: Conclusion remains that the 3GW, partially of 8hr BESS is about as far as we should take it now.

Unfortunately the report referenced is hot garbage. xitter.cf/Ember421/status/197162… @IESO_Tweets please withdraw and redo the analysis for such an important topic.
Despite @Dr_Keefer’s assertions, wind & solar + batteries can provide Ontario with very reliable electricity. According to the @IESO_Tweets, they can meet at least 99.5% of our electricity needs under all weather scenarios. shrlnk.ca/s/dcwuRMFA #TripleRenewables #onpoli

You would think, but your hero already lost a war with *Iran*…
United States GDP (2025): ≈ $30.77 trillion Canada GDP (2025): ≈ $2.32 trillion The US accounts for about 26% of global GDP; Canada accounts for roughly 2%. Who do you think is going to win this trade war?

Modify that. 1hr before markets close this coming Friday announce 50 Grippens, and technology selection of our next large nuclear of CANDU's instead of AP1000's.
Today would be a great day to announce the procurement of 60-90 Grippens...

Friday fun: Electoral reform My theory is the root of our current dysfunction is the misalignment of authority and accountability we have between voters, party members, candidates, caucus, and leadership. How do we fix this along with the other big issues with FPTP? (🇨🇦)

With this system, the leader is accountable to caucus, and caucus is accountable to the party membership in their district. Caucus is filtered by the reality check of an election. Results are more proportional, but emphasis is kept on regional representation and voter selection

Oh, and the senate should be selected by the provincial legislatures as they open up, with number of seats proportional to sqrt(# population in province). What are your thoughts?
