HISTORY OF NEW MILLENNIUM CITY, KADUNA STATE: Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi’s Administration New Millennium City, Kaduna, was proposed during the administration of Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi as Governor. The idea was drawn from the state’s original master plan, laying the foundation for what would later become one of Kaduna’s emerging urban areas. Governor Namadi Sambo’s Administration Governor Namadi Sambo took the next step by initiating the implementation process during his short tenure as governor. His administration began the process of turning the vision of a new urban development area into reality. Governor Ramalan Yero’s Administration Governor Ramalan Yero contributed to the development of New Millennium City by constructing the bridge linking Unguwar Rimi to the new city. This infrastructure improved access and connectivity, encouraged land purchases, and further development as more people began investing in the area. Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s Administration Then came the administration of a transformative leader. His administration played a significant role in accelerating the development of New Millennium City. During his tenure, major real estate developers, including Nurul Suraj, Urban Shelter, Rhyno, MPH, TUC and many others, expanded their presence in the area. His administration also made efforts to improve infrastructure and make the city more livable. On security, his government took measures to tackle banditry within its capacity. In Conclusion All the previous administrations contributed to the development of New Millennium City in different ways. Yet, the present administration of Governor Uba Sani has failed to make a meaningful contribution to the city’s development, particularly in addressing the growing security challenges threatening the lives and properties of residents.
