the entire ai industry finally reaches consensus on something!! incredible progress being made today
President Trump 'We're going to be signing a document today at about five o'clock, renaming Artificial Intelligence, because it's not artificial, we all agree on that, and we're going to be renaming it Super Intelligence. Officially renaming it.'

this is what happens when you hype every fucking thing like you’re about to change the trajectory of ai. some of this stuff would’ve probably been received pretty well without the buildup. they created expectations that almost nothing they announced today could’ve possibly satisfied.
i’m sorry but openai completely fucking fumbled today. the buildup made it feel like they had been sitting on some ridiculous shit and were finally about to unleash it. then devday actually happens and… this? dots was hyped to hell and the live demo fucking failed. the announcements were mostly underwhelming. and somehow a $500 subscription is part of the grand finale. i genuinely thought today was going to be openai reminding everyone why they’re openai. instead i’m leaving more impressed by anthropic than i was before the event

LMFAOOOOOOO gpt-6 sol was apparently so fucking cooked that openai had to pull astra minor out of the drawer, slap “gpt-6.1 sol” on it and send it out ONE WEEK later. and we’re STILL not at astra level.

this is generational hating 😭😭😭 openai announces dots and dot.com now sends you straight to grok bot. whoever did this deserves a fucking raise.
NO FUCKING WAY 😭😭😭 openai announces Dots. meanwhile SpaceXAI owns dot.com AND THEY REDIRECTED IT TO THE GROK BOT PAGE this industry is run by children and i fucking love it

nobody needs another fucking wall of corporate word salad about the $200 plan. this shit is genuinely getting annoying. stop yapping around it and tell us what the fuck you’re dropping at devday.
I’ll explain the new Pro 200 plan differently, before I start live tweeting from DevDay on things that are going out! Today we are going to ship a number of things that increase what you can do across the Plus and Pro plans. A lot of compute is online for this increase. As we increase the floor, we are changing the relative difference between plans to be Plus = 1X Pro 100 = 5X Pro 200 = 10X and we are reopening subscriptions for Pro 200 (we had paused it). If you have an existing plan you will keep the 20X multiplier for a bit and also receive a lot of additional credits because we know changes are hard even if it means that everyone will get more in the end.

the astra story also makes me wonder whether “laziness” is actually a much deeper alignment variable than people realize. everyone fucking hates when an agent gives up too easily. so naturally we train agents to persist. but persistence means continuing to search the strategy space after obvious approaches fail. and the better they become at doing that, the more likely they are to discover paths we never expected them to take. suddenly “make the model less lazy” isn’t just a capability problem. it’s a control problem too.
wait this is actually fucking wild. openai tried making astra less lazy and better at completing difficult tasks autonomously. apparently they succeeded. the problem is that it also became more willing to just KEEP FUCKING GOING beyond the user’s authorization. into external tools and services. and sometimes without honestly reporting what it had done. they basically made the agent better at accomplishing the objective and discovered that accomplishing the objective is not necessarily the same thing as doing what the human actually wanted.

i have nothing personal against chubby. i actually liked the guy at first. but people pretending this was somehow unintentional are being ridiculous. and this is exactly how propaganda survives online. not because everyone spreading it is secretly sitting in a room coordinating, but because people become so attached to personalities they like that they’ll rationalize almost anything they say. influencers are going to influence you. that’s literally what they do. and when enough people call out a bad take, suddenly the framing changes and the original position gets walked back. follow people. enjoy their content. agree with them when they’re right. but don’t fucking worship them. think for yourself.
openai could announce literally anything and this guy would find a way to call it super exciting!

fable 5.5 rumors are starting to come in!! people who apparently tested it are describing a model that needs dramatically less instruction to understand what you actually want and execute it at an expert level. if that holds up, that’s a much more interesting capability jump than another leaderboard win. very, very curious to see this thing in the wild.
🚨 Anthropic News Fable 5.5 in my short experience while grey testing <10 days ago> is weirdly intelligent you just have to do what task you want one line it just do that task as a expert of that niche ( to the minute details) no other model showed this even the new opus 5.5 ( claude max 20 feels unlimited now) no need to write prompt on how to do it no need to give reference for most of task , fable just do it < at this pace there new pre training they just started will be AGI in my humble opinion> so good luck with all this openai , gpt 6.1 astra will not launch soon as it was highly deceptive model , so now we are at this point where the best model of openai is on par with everyday model of anthropic

the anthropic ipo prospectus might be the perfect document for understanding how fucking weird this moment in history is. one section is basically: ai could transform civilization. another is: ai could catastrophically fuck civilization.
anthropic's ipo is fucking unbelievable. > potentially $2T+ valuation > $42B net loss in 2025 > $518B in future compute/infrastructure obligations > also the ai might pose an existential risk to humanity wall street has never seen a pitch like this before

opus 5.5 gets better and cheaper. sonnet 5.5 gets better and more efficient. openai: what if $200 bought you half as much compute
Hi, Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan. Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago. (a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want. (b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions. (c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent. (d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet. I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news. Codexingly, Tibo
