Very excited that my article--which analyzes more than a decade of narratives related to a Hindu woman named Iraiarasi’s untimely death, subsequent deification, and eventual domestication as a pūvāṭaikkāri--is out in the world! #domesticatingthedead academic.oup.com/jhs/advance… – at Burlington, NC

One of the best things about last evening’s conference reception was the opportunity to invite recent @elonalumni to interact with current #Elon students—thanks for making time for some near-peer mentoring, @anya_fredsell and @marjorie_fo !!

Maddy’s research sought to understand people’s everyday experiences of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through objects and images—what she’s calling “material memories”— which include maps, flags, keys, coins, and public art.

Maddy spent five weeks in Israel/Palestine last summer, where she conducted ethnographic fieldwork and recorded more than 30 interviews. I have had the great pleasure of mentoring Maddy over the last 2.5 years and we learned together when I joined her in Jerusalem in June.
