Neoclouds and AI holdco/ ‘transformation’ funds have one thing in common… when the capital tide goes out and multiples compress, the only place you want to be invested in is the market leaders.

AI personal assistants (Instinct, Muse) may be the first true test for the efficient markets hypothesis.

If you don’t understand how truly sick this tweet is, switch out Israel for Sandy Hook. Talk about how tragic it is that innocent children were killed in school but then go on about how the mental health crisis that caused Lanza to shoot up the school is the real tragedy.
This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss. The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes. Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment. To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

Will happily take the other side of his bet. This market is massive. Instinct and Town will do great. Everyone will win (as long as the non-labs can finance buying compute). Many people don’t want Meta, OpenAI or Anthropic to have more data about them. I am one of them.
I am calling it now. These personal assistants like Instinct and Town are building too close to the sun and will get replaced by tools from the models very soon. Just like coding did. I gave both of them the same task and also Claude Cowork. Cowork did it better and faster with more tools. These agents are wrappers that are going to have a hard time maintaining value.

After reviewing the material, I have come to an official conclusion. It has been determined that Elliot DID in fact influence Muse launch. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Here are a few funny things that happened after I accidentally launched Instinct: - Instinct went viral - Instinct went very viral - @noahrshinn unveiled himself and became a tech celeb - Haters showed up - Instinct $2.5B round - @noahrshinn @mon__lim & team made Instinct go very very viral - Muse launched - Muse went viral - Hundreds of AI assistants launched - Instinct $10B round All in the last 6 weeks. The internet is so fun. And the Instinct product absolutely rocks. Please keep on buying compute for a long time.
This one vague tweet started one of the greatest virality stories for tech Twitter. A startup no one had heard of was in a span of merely 13 days, worth $2.5B. We investigated 5k+ posts and 56k+ relationship ties to find what actually made it "one of the greatest". thread 🧵

@patrick_oshag and I had a great conversation a few days ago. We talked about: - Instinct’s high-craft, user-centric, and minimalist approach to product-building. - Our exploding invite-only program that ensures that every new user is onboarded by a close friend or family member. - How the internet will be transformed over the next 1-2 years when the majority of users stop using apps or websites. - A few of my personal goals in terms of the experience I’d like to deliver to users. Thank you Patrick!
My conversation with Noah Shinn (@noahrshinn), founder of Instinct. Noah is building a personal AI assistant. It's still invite only, has spent nothing on marketing, and is growing roughly 10% A DAY. This is his first long conversation about the company. We discuss: - Why Instinct doesn't have an app - Buying compute months ahead of exponential demand - How users learn to trust it with a credit card - Safety and security - Agents coordinating with other people's agents - Instinct's business model - Apps built on consumer inertia - and more Enjoy! Instinct runs my day — calendar, follow ups, errands & purchasing Gives massive time savings + $$ spent savings Yet, I’m busier than ever with things that used to fall off + I’ve always want to do (apt redecorate + handling insurance + gifting) Jevons paradox is incredible

Closing dinners should be structured like a game of mafia New investors seated around the table, with one ceremonial cuck chair Eyes closed, heads downs. The founder walks around and taps your head if you’re in the cuck round Then you sit in the cuck chair for the remainder of the meal

Same. Best flow state of “from my brain to actual transactions” Has also felt more intentional + less like junk-food purchasing
Instinct is not free. They may not charge you directly, but I’ve spent $1000+ I wouldn’t have otherwise

I’m Noah, the founder of Instinct. Instinct is a personal agent that we’ve been building for the past few months. The interface is simple: there are no new interfaces. You can text or call it. It's trained to use a phone and a computer in the same way that humans do. Instinct combines simplicity with extreme capability. I’m thrilled with everything our early users are doing with Instinct. They’ve told us they’ve planned cross-country road trips, bought weekly groceries and concert tickets, and cancelled hundreds of dollars of subscriptions. Someone’s even planning their wedding with Instinct. We want to make Instinct the best personal agent for all of you. It’s available in an invite-only beta program while we’re actively bringing up more compute. I’m excited to see what you all do with it. instinct.co

When prices and fundamentals diverge meaningfully, all that matters is narrative. And in a narrative-driven world, this behavior is exactly what you would expect to happen. This was crypto in '21/'22. And it's AI today. h/t @davidjhlee for coining this - the "crypto-ification" of an asset class.
The extent of lying / exaggerating among 16-24 year olds pitching VCs for their first round or two is at an all time high right now. It’s ok to be ambitious and optimistic. Not ok to lie about VC termsheets that one didn’t receive or to talk about a verbal LOI from a customer as a signed scaler contract. Yes, we VCs are often lazy, yet some of us still do a few minutes of due diligence before we make an offer to invest.

Anti-slop cannon
Huge Atlassian quarterly beat. There was a misplaced thesis over the past 6 months that somehow agents would be bad for certain software categories. There’s definitely truth in this in some areas, but many were parsing this poorly. In a world where agents are generating 100X more code, processing massive amounts of data, or making decisions across your systems, the role of the platforms that manage this data and these workflows becomes more important, not less. Enterprises care about governance, security, compliance, guardrails, safe access to data, and many more critical capabilities that go into these systems of record.
