So excited to share a preprint of my thesis work from the Grice Lab! We show that a rarely studied bacterium commonly found in chronic wounds promotes diabetic wound healing: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…. A brief thread…(1/4)
It turns out, Alcaligenes reduces expression of matrix metalloproteinases, which are peptidases that are overexpressed in diabetes and can interfere with proper wound healing. Thus, a common wound bacterium can correct host pathways that are dysregulated in diabetes! (3/4)

Check out the new work lead by my lab @TakuKambayashi lab, and the Grice lab at UPenn. We found in mice that the microbiome and immune system regulate a variety of phenotypes in progeny transgenerationally and that this may occur by regulating small RNAs in the gametes.

I am so appreciative of the support from @AWISPHL and can’t wait to present my research at @ISID2023Tokyo!
Congratulations to our Travel Award winners @EllenWhiteinLab and @breannepirino. Our Travel Awards supply early career female scientists with the funds to travel for important scientific conferences in order to present their research and advance their careers.
So grateful to have the support of the @PennSbdrc and @elizgrice lab for my fellowship research!
