"It's not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters." - Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. Every team wants to win. Not every team wants to put in the practice that actually gets them there.
HORNS TWIST
1 uses 4's screen, then turns back off a second one from 5. The defense loads up and 5 rolls free.

HORNS POP
Your 5 can shoot? Let him pop while 4 dives from the weak elbow. The drop big can't cover both.

More than 30 states are adding a shot clock in some form for the 2026-27 season. If that's you, this is the year to actually install two-for-one sets and a press built to speed teams up, not just talk about it in a timeout.
The Princeton Offense.
You hear about it more and more these days. But, what is it, and how does it work?
I've got a brand new guide for it. Complete with explanations, and animated plays you can save to your playbook in one click.
Learn it here 👉🏻: elitehoopsapp.com/princeton-…
I shipped Instant Practice Builder on the web. Answer six quick questions, get a full practice built from your drill library, matched to the time you picked. Warm-up and wrap-up included. Give it a try under New Practice!
"Pressure doesn’t create mistakes. It reveals what you practiced." - Geno Auriemma
Every rough possession under pressure is really just a practice habit showing up at the wrong time. Install it clean now, it shows up clean later.
Install tip: when you put in a new BLOB, try giving your inbounder TWO reads, not one. A pass that's live from the jump, and a safety valve. If the first look is covered, they still have somewhere to go instead of calling timeout.
We just a team page live that walks through how a shared team works: one coach invites the whole program, coaches, players, and parents, onto one live playbook. Separate pages for AAU clubs, school programs, staffs, and trainers. Check it out at the link!

So, install tip for tryout week: when you put in a new BLOB or SLOB, teach the counter in that same walkthrough. Players who only know the primary look freeze the moment a defense takes it away.
Practice game situations before the game comes around!

I just added 19 more quotes to my basketball quotes page: Izzo, Hurley, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and more. It's up to 337+ now, so there's always a fresh one to send before a game.

"The extra pass and the extra effort on defense always get the job done." - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Install season isn't just about the new sets. The extra pass and one more closeout are habits too, and those are free to teach.
Coaching tip: next time you walk a set through on the whiteboard, try hitting record first. One extra tap, and the walkthrough is there for a player to rewatch, explained the exact same way every time.
You can share it anywhere, too. Messages, email, team apps, etc.
"There is no negotiating hard work." - Pascal Siakam
Install season doesn't care how clean your diagram is if nobody wants to guard on the other end. Reps decide that, not the set.
ALT An inspirational quote emphasizes hard work’s importance in the context of basketball strategies and practice dynamics.
"I always tell the kids, 'You know what's great about going the extra mile? There's very little traffic.'" - Jim Larranaga
Install season is exactly when that extra rep shows up. Nobody else is doing it right now.
🚨 Rule change for this season: a head coach can now step onto the court to help break up a fight, without waiting to be beckoned by an official first. Small change, but when them boys are throwin' hands you can officially step in coach! (NFHS, 2026-27 rules)
I shipped Team Plans: one private playbook for your whole program. Invite every coach, player, and parent, no cap on seats, no charge per person. Coaches edit, players and parents view. Pro is included for the plan owner.
