Can't believe it's been 3 years since I got the first copies of my book.
And because the video I took that day is still the best unboxing video EVER, I'm going to share it again.

Give a person on a low income a tax break and they spend the money in the economy which helps create more jobs and money for others. Give a really wealthy person a tax break they send it to an offshore bank.

In the year 756, a grieving empress of Japan donated
her late husband's dearest belongings to a temple in Nara.
They were placed in a wooden warehouse
called the Shosoin.
Persian glass goblets. Silver ewers from ancient Iran.
Musical instruments, medicines, games, textiles
from across China, India, Central Asia.
Scholars call this warehouse
"the final destination of the Silk Road."
Nearly 9,000 treasures. In near-mint condition.
The oldest surviving silks on Earth
that were never buried in a tomb.
Now, the question that should keep you up at night:
How does a wooden shed full of treasure
survive 1,270 years without being looted?
Egypt's treasures survived because they were sealed
inside tombs, hidden under tons of stone.
Most of the world's ancient wonders that remain
survived by being lost.
The Shosoin was never lost. It sat in plain sight,
in the middle of a city, for thirteen centuries.
Its security system?
A strip of paper.
The lock is sealed with paper
bearing the Emperor's personal signature.
To break the seal without permission is unthinkable.
That's it. That was always it.
Not even the shoguns, the military rulers of Japan,
could open that door.
For one stretch, it stayed shut for 140 straight years
because no one had the authority to look inside.
Once a year, each October, an imperial envoy
travels from Tokyo to break the seal,
air out the treasures, and seal it again.
They have been doing this, on schedule,
since before the Vikings existed.
Anywhere else, this is a heist movie waiting to happen.
In Japan, it's just a piece of paper that has said
"please don't" for 1,270 years.
And for 1,270 years, everyone hasn't.

On March 11, 889, a 22-year-old Japanese emperor wrote in his diary about a new black cat he had recently acquired…
“On the 6th Day of the 2nd Month of the First Year of the Kampo era. Taking a moment of my free time, I wish to express my joy of the cat. It arrived by boat as a gift to the late Emperor, received from the hands of Minamoto no Kuwashi.
The color of the fur is peerless. None could find the words to describe it, although one said it was reminiscent of the deepest ink. It has an air about it, similar to Kanno. Its length is 5 sun, and its height is 6 sun. I affixed a bow about its neck, but it did not remain for long.
In rebellion, it narrows its eyes and extends its needles. It shows its back.
When it lies down, it curls in a circle like a coin. You cannot see its feet. It's as if it were circular Bi disk. When it stands, its cry expresses profound loneliness, like a black dragon floating above the clouds.
By nature, it likes to stalk birds. It lowers its head and works its tail. It can extend its spine to raise its height by at least 2 sun. Its color allows it to disappear at night.
I am convinced it is superior to all other cats.”

Fred Wunpound was the mascot of HMS Hecate from 1966 until cats were banned on Royal Navy ships in 1975 due to quarantine laws. He got his name because he was bought from an animal shelter for just £1. Leading Seacat Wunpound earned two good conduct badges but also one disgraceful conduct badge for the so-called "fish market incident."

If an MP does a second job, why isn't their salary reduced accordingly?
Therefore, if their second job earns them more than £98k* they'll receive £0 MP salary.
It's what happens to Universal Credit recipients.
