Political, security, and economic problems are piling up in Syria, while many of the previous crises have not actually been resolved. Instead, they have largely been presented to the public as though they had been settled. The problem is that Syria’s crises are not separate issues. Political problems affect security, security problems affect the economy, and economic hardship fuels social and political tensions. Unless the root causes are addressed, every postponed crisis remains liable to erupt at any time. More troubling still is the continued portrayal of external forces as the sole source of the country’s crises, while ignoring the fact that a fragile and divided domestic landscape creates opportunities for external actors to intervene and expand their influence. Unresolved internal crises open the door to external interference, rather than the process working only in the opposite direction, as is often portrayed. External interventions may exacerbate crises and exploit them for their own interests, but they find the most favorable conditions when political partnership is absent, demands are marginalized, and disputes are left unresolved. Stability cannot be built by managing one crisis after another, nor through social media campaigns and trending topics that may dominate public debate for a few hours but cannot produce political consensus or build state institutions. The problem is that some people approach the state through the lens of public relations rather than politics, as though changing the rhetoric, launching campaigns, and creating trends could resolve the crises of a country exhausted by divisions. But reality cannot be managed through applause, and crises do not disappear simply because someone decides to stop talking about them. Syria needs to address the root of the problem: genuine political consensus, power-sharing, clear guarantees for all Syrians, and institutions capable of managing differences rather than turning them into conflict. Stability is not achieved by silencing crises, but by addressing their causes. Anyone who wants to shield Syria from external interference must begin by strengthening the domestic front through justice, partnership, and genuine representation. A cohesive domestic front reduces opportunities for intervention, while a crisis-ridden one gives external actors additional leverage. A country that postpones its crises does not overcome them; it merely allows them to accumulate until the cost of resolving them becomes even greater.

To be Verisha Moradi; to have spent more than three years in Iran’s notorious Evin prison, faced torture and forced confessions, and now to receive a second death sentence, despite the Supreme Court having overturned the first one due to insufficient evidence. To be a symbol of resistance, courage and Kurdishness. To be Verisha Moradi ❤️

To this day, the al-Qaeda government continues to refuse the return of the forcibly displaced residents of Serekaniye (Ras al-Ayn) to their city. This is due to the Turkish military bases and Turkey’s opposition to their return, either directly or through its mercenaries and settlers. In response, the displaced residents of Serekaniye are blocking roads in the city of Tell Tamer in protest against the government’s continued delays in removing the mercenaries and settlers, who refuse to leave and threaten to kill anyone from the Kurdish community who returns to their home. The residents are also protesting Turkey’s refusal to withdraw its occupying forces and dismantle its military bases in the region. #Turkish_occupation #Occupied_Serekaniye
