It was an honor to open the Pleasant View Elementary School playground today for our students who are growing up right here in Providence. The investments made into this renovation are investments directly into our children - into the way they learn, play, grow, and thrive. Beyond a new playground, this is a space where our students will build friendships, stay active, enjoy the outdoors, create lasting memories and most importantly, have a safe and joyful space right at school. And this year, with four fully renovated parks and community spaces across the city, we're doing more than updating playgrounds - we're investing in our neighbors, strengthening our communities, and building the future of Providence.

This week we visited Mary Fogarty, MLK, Webster and Asa Messer Elementary Schools to celebrate the new school year where students could meet their new teachers and classmates, check out their new classroom, play games and pick up new school supplies. As Providence Public Schools transition back to local management and the first day of school quickly approaches, events like these serve as an important reminder of how meaningful this upcoming year is for students, parents and the entire community.

Today marks a pivotal moment for Providence. As students step into a new school year filled with nerves, excitement and hope - our schools officially return to local management. This year is more than just the start of classes - it's a defining chapter for our students, families, educators and entire community. Together, we're building on great progress and strengthening the path forward to ensure every child has the tools, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.
