A great day at JAXA π―π΅
Attended the STAC workshop and explored the Tsukuba Space Center. Great to see so many familiar faces again, while geeking out cloud native, open standards, and all things STAC

An excellent primer on & vision for Earth data vector embeddings. Vector embeddings power Earth Index. The key approach that makes search for anything, anywhere in Earth Index are embeddings generated from large Earth foundation models.
We just published a white paper!
In it, we cover how EO data providers (ex. NASA) can dramatically improve access to their data by creating a centralized vector embeddings catalog.
Find the full white paper linked in this blog:

ALT Accumulated Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) precipitation data for Hurricane Beryl is shown in millimeters in this image, as well as the track of Hurricane Beryl (indicated with "+") for the period July 4-11, 2024. Very High precipitation accumulation values are shown in dark orange and dark red and range from 150 mm to 305 mm.

We've recently been working on using LLMs to get better and faster at creating and using areas of interest (AOI) on the Earth. Rather than having to manually manipulate boundaries to get what you need, we've combined LLMs with geocoding. Check out the video!
Interested in learning more about Natural Language Geocoding?
We put together a super quick explainer over on our youtube channel: youtu.be/wYhbuRsoUn0 #AI #NaturalLanguageGeocoding

Nice work from @element84 being able to use natural language to precisely specify a geographic area, such as saying Florida and the AOI is automatically made into a precise outline of the state of Florida. element84.com/machine-learniβ¦
