🐞 Ever had a bug that disappears the moment you start debugging? In embedded systems, timing-related bugs can be especially frustrating. Pausing the microcontroller to investigate may change the very behavior you're trying to understand! A free technical article from Qt Group explores how CoreSight Trace, SWO, and RTOS-aware timeline analysis can help engineers investigate these issues on Arm Cortex-M systems without stopping the processor. Through a practical example, discover how to identify missed deadlines and track down bugs that are difficult to reproduce. 📖 Read more and download the free technical article on Elektor: elektormagazine.com/news/the…

A loudspeaker or cooling fan may look simple from the outside, but producing controlled movement in an extremely small space is a serious engineering challenge. Swedish startup Myvox is approaching that challenge with MEMS technology. The company develops PZT-based MEMS devices for applications including microspeakers and microfans. By using piezoelectric structures manufactured at very small scale, Myvox is working to create components capable of moving air efficiently while occupying significantly less space than many conventional solutions. For microspeakers, this could be relevant to earbuds, hearables, smart devices, and other compact audio products. Microfans could address another increasingly important problem: cooling electronics as processing power continues to increase while products become smaller. It is an interesting example of how MEMS technology is moving beyond traditional sensing applications. We are pleased to welcome Myvox from Sweden to electronica 2026. Battery technology is one of the biggest constraints in modern electronics. Swiss startup BTRY is taking a particularly interesting approach to that problem with extremely thin solid-state batteries. The company, which originated as a spin-off from Empa and ETH Zürich, is developing batteries that can be manufactured at a thickness of around 0.1 mm. The technology is designed around solid-state materials rather than conventional liquid electrolytes and is intended to support very fast charging, high-temperature operation, and extremely compact form factors. Those characteristics could make it relevant for applications including wearables, sensors, IoT devices, medical technology, and other products where a conventional battery is simply too large or unsuitable. For electronics engineers, the interesting part is not only battery capacity, but the new product formats that become possible when energy storage can be made this thin. We look forward to welcoming BTRY to electronica 2026 in Munich. Discover their technology: btry.ch/
