👋Thanks for the mention, @cdpaddock: "But now, on this new exchange, ElectronX, you can actually trade each individual hour as an individual futures contract. So, that’s been interesting for us.
"And my forecast is that a lot of market participants will join that game as well. It gives a lot of optionality and tools, particularly for either load or renewables that have different shapes and don’t necessarily want the entire exposure for all the hours."

❓“Why does anyone need to hedge electricity hour by hour?” asks @JohnLothianNews. “Because the power grid has become a far more volatile place…And data centers running AI workloads are consuming electricity at a pace the grid has never seen.”
ElectronX CEO Sam Tegel explains: “There is an emerging opportunity for granular, intraday risk management best accomplished by a hybrid, direct-access and intermediated model. We believe a modern, liquid, data-rich, short-term power derivatives market like ours is a critical part of the emerging AI stack, and our participant conversations are shoring that up. Our products already provide a hedge for the short-term power leg of the compute trade, and we’re ready for the U.S.-regulated compute side to develop in tandem.
“We’ve built ElectronX for this moment: a rapid evolution of electronic efficiencies due to expanded access, increasing need, and technological readiness.”

🗞️ ElectronX CEO Sam Tegel: “We’re looking to be a change agent,” he said, acknowledging that surging data center energy demands as a result of the AI revolution are an undisputed boon for the startup.
“As these folks build their stack of power and they realize they’re long and short power intraday, they’re going to be monetizing and optimizing that power exposure — we think it’s a huge tailwind for us.”
