Wow. Mark Carney just appointed another one of his scandal-plagued, Liberal insider friends to chair the Board of Invest in Canada.
This guy (Dominic Barton) has it all.
Worked at McKinsey during which time they advised Purdue Pharma on how to ‘supercharge’ sales of the highly-addictive opioid OxyContin and did close business with state-owned companies in China.
Together with Carney and (now) U.S. Ambassador Mark Wiseman, he pushed the radical open borders “Century Initiative”, which advocated to more than double Canada’s population to 100 million people.
Barton also advocated for the failed Canada Infrastructure Bank that lost taxpayers over $250 million, then pitched the failed Supercluster strategy in 2018, costing Canadians over $1 billion (with no proof it created the planned jobs).
It appears the only qualification for being appointed to anything in this government is being a well-connected Liberal insider who’s friends with Carney.

Dominic Barton being questioned several years ago about him and his firm being responsible for “turbocharging” the sales of opioids which ultimately led to the deaths of thousands.
Just listen to this guy answer these questions, when you say “but” after saying “we shouldn’t have done that” there’s a problem ethically and morally with this guy.

We don’t even have a Board of Trade party.
The CPC is not committed to reducing marginal tax rates, corporate or capital gains taxes, reining in Trudeau era entitlement spending, broader entitlement reform, balancing the budget, ending the quota farming cartel, etc.
I would take some version of that over the status quo.
Much better yet would be an authentically conservative party that would seriously tackle the cultural issues you enumerate.
But instead of thoughtfully addressing those issues, post Covid MAGA inflected populism has conservative parties chasing ostrich farm culls, vaccine scepticism, globalist conspiracy theories, etc.
We need a new form of conservative fusionism that is focussed on the deeper cultural challenges, without the distraction of weird populist obsessions that do nothing but alienate us from the mainstream electorate (doing so with the volume nob stuck on 11.)
I gather you had a candidate who represented that principled, sane conservative vision in the recent CPBC leadership election.
