Apparently she subscribes to the her “Comandante’s” actos de repudio (acts of repudiation) playbook. #theFemaleFidel
It is an embarrassment to Miami that María Elvira Salazar would attack Hakeem Jeffries for simply stopping for Cuban coffee. What’s next? Denying service to people because of their politics? Hasn’t Trump visited El Arepazo while his administration engages with Delcy Rodríguez and the Venezuelan regime? Por favor! Spare us the selective outrage for political points. Miami is a diverse, dynamic, cosmopolitan city. We should all feel free to enjoy a cortadito and pastelitos regardless of political ideology! A BIG thank you to CAO Bakery for welcoming visitors from across the country. I’ll be stopping by soon! Stop making Miami look intolerant and ignorant. We are better than this.

At the rate @realDonaldTrump is managing our country’s inflation, we are going to need rolls of those coins to buy a ☕️ anywhere. #winning
The U.S. Treasury is telling Americans to go to spend the new Trump $1 coins at liberal coffee shops. Legendary trolling 🤣

Trump says he brought in “$21 trillion” of investment vs. “less than $1 trillion” under Biden. Actual business investment: $14.5 trillion under Biden, $6.7 trillion so far under Trump. My @Morning_Joe Chart

For the average Floridian, this means they increased taxes on you by more than a billion dollars while giving tax breaks to the wealthy & large corporations. The Governor was so proud of this bill, he signed it in the dead of the night!
Replying to @fineout
GOP officials who ultimately backed the measure say they were willing to do so because the increased collections from internet transactions were offset by tax decreases for unemployment compensation & commercial leases

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day. Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine. As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia. America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration. Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him. America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. If @tedcruz was a judge, the motto in his courtroom would read, “We who labor seek NOT the truth.”
.@SenTedCruz (R-TX) grills Jack Smith on subpoenas to Republican phone records and whether he sought donor fundraising data: "You know damn well you did. You've been questioned about the the checks that you guys got. You know the answer so why don't you answer the question?"

Roundup of local coverage by @Fla_Pol shows multiple city & counties approving new budgets that are above the "rollback" rate - meaning these local officials are voting to take in extra tax $ for the coming year. Which is an interesting stance right before Amendment 3 vote

The @MiamiHerald endorsed us because I’ll do what María Elvira Salazar won’t: stand up for the people of District 27. She simply doesn’t show up. And if you don’t show up, you can’t fight for the people. I will show up. And I will fight for you.

Ten days ago, the Florida Senate threatened reporters with criminal charges to bury a report you paid for. Today, those reporters published it anyway. Now you can see what they were hiding. Insurance companies claiming losses while sending millions in profit to affiliated companies out of state. One insurer reported a 9 million dollar loss while its affiliates earned 176 million. They cry poverty to raise your rates, and the state helped them hide it. I served on the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee. I saw exactly how they operate. As your CFO, I will use the audit authority of this office to keep dragging this into the light. Read it yourself, then ask why they fought so hard to keep it from you. orlandosentinel.com/2026/09/… – Annette

Statistically tied and heavily under-resourced and you won’t debate? Makes no sense. For the sake of the party and his campaign, I hope he reconsiders.
This is the second major strategic mistake @DavidJollyFL has made (not going with a Hispanic LG being the first). It is, and always has been, Jolly's Achilles' Heel. He's too clever by half. I could be wrong, but the turn-the-sub-into-the-torpedos strategy only works once.

This ad is a) a sign of how much trouble Republicans are in b) so transparently cynical and dishonest that it absolutely won't work.
This is a stunning ad from Maria Elvira Salazar, a south Florida House Republican. “Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far. In July, 50% of the 50,000 people that were detained had no criminal record. Be careful what your advisers are telling you about immigration policy. “The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today. You can be for immigration what Lincoln was for slavery and Reagan was for communism. I'm not talking about giving them amnesty. I'm talking about giving them a dignified life in this promised land.”

My biggest takeaway from 18 months discussing Amendment 3 is how few people, including many state elected officials, actually understand how city and county budgets work. And part of that confusion has been fueled by the FAFO “audits,” which throw out big numbers without enough detail showing what is recurring versus one-time, what belongs to enterprise or restricted funds, what represents capital projects, and what is actually tied to the general fund. Those distinctions matter. Ending a one-time capital project doesn’t pay next year’s firefighters. Money sitting in a utility enterprise fund can’t simply be moved over to pay police officers. Eliminating parks, libraries and recreation may still not come close to closing a recurring budget hole. Just as few people seem to understand what inflation and growth actually do to local budgets. A city serving more residents, employees and businesses while paying higher wages, construction costs, insurance, fuel and equipment costs will spend more nominal dollars over time. That was true before Amendment 3, and it will be true after it. And restricting property-tax revenue doesn’t magically make the cost of government disappear. Cities and counties can shift costs to fire assessments, stormwater charges and other non-ad valorem fees. That doesn’t mean local government shouldn’t become more efficient. It absolutely should. But before Florida fundamentally rewrites how local government is funded, we should at least understand how it is funded today. Big numbers without context aren’t an audit. And moving a cost from your tax bill to your fee bill isn’t necessarily a tax cut.

Still waiting for those savings here. Paying the same or slightly for less replacement coverage when you consider inflation that has been supercharged by @realDonaldTrump.
Per @SPGlobal Florida was the only state in the nation that had an effective decrease for home insurance. Some states had 25%-plus increases. If we make it through the next 6 weeks without any major events and given the decline in reinsurance costs this year, the market will continue to improve and many are forecasting more significant reductions for consumers.

.@SPGlobal is once again reporting Florida has the lowest rate change in the NATION! The vast majority of states saw effective rate increases in 2025, BUT Florida is the ONLY state reporting a decrease at -0.92! 📈Seven states had double-digit rate increases in 2025. 📉The national calculated weighted average rate INCREASE was 5.5% in 2025, Florida's rate change DECREASED! ‼️Three states had a two-year cumulative rate increases over 34%, with one state reporting a compound increase of 44.5%.
