Explaining how @category_xyz 's flexible-auth mechanism enables post-quantum signature schemes without breaking interoperability:
Not really. Addresses are like usernames, and private keys are like passwords. And addresses are used across various EVM ecosystems (like how you might use the same username across websites). The main difference between addresses/PrivateKeys and usernames/passwords is that an address is generated by a private key, i.e. you can't just pick whatever address you want, you have to hold the private key that generates it. So up until now, addresses were 1:1 with private keys. But this proposal changes that. Now you can "change your password" (switch to a different signature scheme, with a different variety of private key) while preserving your address, by signing the change with your old private key. If anything, this proposal makes it easier to switch to a PQ signature scheme while continuing to interoperate with the rest of the Ethereum ecosystem. The main thing that would need to change is the wallets. But this is part of the reason why you see @category_xyz working on wallet infra as well, so there is a good backup plan.
