I think the xbox business strategist spoke the truth…
An Xbox Business Strategist took to social media with claims that game developers are only "pretending not to use AI," sparking a flood of responses that led to him disabling his account. bit.ly/3VKDJMp

The Steam Next Fest Strat is to essentially build up hype for your demo way in advance
Probably Stolen’s demo had close to 2k reviews going into the festival

PlayStation boss Hiroki Totoki says “creativity is for humans, not AI.”
Speaking with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, Totoki said AI can be a useful tool for developers but won’t replace people, as creativity remains a human strength.
“Of course, I encourage my people to use AI in a certain manner, but we try to protect the rights of rights holders, creators, and artists.”
Zelnick added that while AI may not replace developers directly, those who embrace it could replace those who don’t.
He also argued that AI relies on existing data, while truly unexpected ideas come from people making original creative choices.
Both companies use AI internally, but Take-Two says there is no AI in GTA 6.
Steve Jobs didn't believe gaming was a market worth pursuing because it didn't have a billion users, according to @bingfish.
"I spoke at WWDC in 2007 and I told Steve that games are big. They have like 400 million monthly players."
Steve's response: "Bing, 400 million? We don't start anything until we get to one billion."
"He disrespected games."
"I started thinking, 'Oh boy, he's arrogant.'"
"Then I thought, 'Oh boy, he's right.'"

I’m hosting "They’ll Mod It Anyway" at @DevGAMM Lisbon: a roundtable on mods and AI.
How much control should players have over their games? Where’s the line between a mod and a hack? And who gets paid when a mod takes off?
Come join the discussion if you're in town!

The EGG site needed to be updated. I asked @ChatGPT Astra to add a blog preview for my latest Substack about @MisfitsAttic getting funded by Stray Signal. I wrote to it like a human (I even had typos in my instructions) and it one-shotted the changes...

It has dawned on me that the future may rhyme with the past. Namely: AI-native games may once again require you to insert tokens to play.
“Creativity” and “Relationships” feel like synonyms for “taste” and trust” which are absolutely becoming some of the most important qualities in the AI age. I agree.
Ben Horowitz on the two skills that will matter more than ever before in an AI world: creativity and relationships.
"I think those are things that are hard to get out of today's AI in a very good way. So if you don't have instincts around those things, I don't know if all the AI in the world could help you. Whereas the grind-them-out tasks, AI is already really good at."
"Do you have original ideas? Can you establish and maintain very high quality, high fidelity relationships with people off the rip? I think people don't think about that enough."
"One big advantage I think that we have is we really look for that. Many just ignore that whole thing, like it's not a thing... It's a thing."
