Mercury --> Gold ... huh.
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10. Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years. Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

Especially when you're trying to be privacy-forward. Make your mistakes on trivial things first.
Practice while it’s optional, so you’re already masterful when it matters.

Wow! 'Not to my knowledge' is such a weaselly, lawyerly, answer ...
Q: Did you marry your brother? Ilhan Omar: “Not to my knowledge.” Well the average Somali IQ is 68 so her “knowledge” probably isn’t the best

People speak this way when they believe their shit doesn't stink.
Kamala Harris just spoke in Las Vegas and it seems she's testing out a new oratory style. It's worse than you can imagine.

Pretty cool
(headphones required) I had Opus 5.5 reverse engineer an 8-second drop I couldn't stop hearing, then turned it into 6 remixes with Suno. Then I put Opus in a loop until it made this video explaining how. Reverse engineering any sound might turn into a repo next.

The internet is not passive any longer - it's now a participant in making history. That's pretty profound.
the money was spicy and got headlines, but the headlines were the point not the "millionaire" story. because those stories got into training data, TT now lives on a generation of models that *already know who Truth Terminal is* hyperstition babeeeeeeey

I NEVER want to be on the receiving end of 'message received' ...
The last time Elon posted “message received” it cost California over $100 billion. Wonder how bad it is this time…

Oh, man ... having flashbacks ... I used to blast my location all over the place with this ... bad op-sec these days ...
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

AI is an apocalypse in the sense that it reveals all. Or it reveals much. We have mathematicians arguing that solving the problems that they themselves identified as the goals (in their funding applications and talks) never mattered. We have the finest literary people in France who were collectively fooled by a novel written by AI. None of them would ever accept AI authorship. We have been told for decades that without copyright, there could be no progress... and all of a sudden, we have these machines producing copyright-free content, often breaking new ground. We have entire institutions that were supposed to be focused on innovation... that cannot adapt meaningfully to a world with AI. We are left wondering. What is actual progress and what is mere signalling. How people react to AI tells us much.

Hopefully not forever, but it's very true right now ...
The forever K is here... 1. Food banks have record demand. Michelin tables have never been harder to book. 2. Robotaxis and AI made chauffeurs and assistants almost free. So status moved to what software can't make: a $180M Van Gogh hits Sotheby's next month. 3. Ten stocks are 40% of the S&P 500. The other 490 are along for the ride. 4. Homes under $1M are a buyer's market. Over $5M, it's a seller's market. 5. Delta now makes more from the front of the plane than the back. 6. Spirit is dead. Private jet flights just hit an all-time high. 7. Hotels are either Motel 6 or the Four Seasons. Marriott is the new Motel 6. 8. Subprime auto delinquencies are at a record. Porsche wants to be Ferrari. 9. Applebee's is running ads saying it's cheaper than McDonald's. 10. Chipotle gave up on everyone under $100K and kept the $20 burrito crowd.

Monero $XMR fixes this
French lawmakers voted 38–37 to advance a proposal imposing a 31.4% capital gains tax on cryptocurrency profits. Under the proposal, investors would owe taxes when exchanging crypto for stablecoins, even if they never sell for cash or withdraw money to their bank accounts. Follow: @AFpost

I have to wonder what Putin has on all these politicians - all the way back to Bill Clinton they've been praising him. It's gotta be some real good Kompromat ...
Witkoff to Putin: “You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian — you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”

My favorite band growing up
Rock band Kansas releases its fourth album, Leftoverture. One track, “Carry On My Wayward Son,” is an instant hit.

She says this because it is something she (and the Dems) would do ... be quiet, spook.
U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin says she’s prepared for a situation in which the Trump administration attempts to change the outcome of the election: “Right in the last two weeks of the election, they somehow come up with a national security incident that only they can protect us from.”

Oh yeah, just what I need - Google knowing exactly what I'm doing, when I'm doing it, and where I am at the time .... sure, sure, I'll check this out ... NOT.
If you have a long, long commute like me, you know how much mental coordination happens the moment you sit in the driver's seat. I’ve said before that having Gemini in the car is a game changer, but Personal Intelligence now takes it to an entirely new level. Available now on Android Auto and coming soon to cars with Google built-in, Gemini can securely bridge your physical journey with your digital life across Google Workspace, Photos, Maps, and more. Take a scenario many of us deal with: picking up family from the airport. Normally, you're driving while trying to remember their flight number, wondering if their gate changed, and mentally calculating if you'll make it to the terminal on time. Now, you don't have to pull over to dig through your phone. You just ask: "Is my family's flight on time, and what terminal should I head to?" Gemini does the heavy lifting. It securely pulls the flight info from your Gmail and matches it with real-time airport data, so you can get to the right destination without missing a beat. We've designed this with strict privacy at the center, ensuring your data remains completely under your control. Amazing work by our teams! Can’t wait to hear what you all think.

Now to find a runway on an angle ....
Trevor Milton pricing the Syberjet SJ36 at $14M doing NY to LA nonstop with a projected operating cost of $30,000. A light jet, but at midsize performance.

Pretty cool until he decapitates himself on a near-invisible power line
Chinese inventor builds a flying board like the Green Goblin’s in Spider-Man Self-taught inventor Sun Xingyu has built an experimental flying hoverboard from scratch. The footage shows a test flight in which he takes off, hovers in midair and lands smoothly from a low altitude. Could this device become a prototype for the personal flying vehicles of the future?
