UPDATE: Millennium Force has reopened at Cedar Point after a bracket dislodged and landed in a guest area. A park spokesperson released this statement about the roller coaster:
“The ride has resumed operations following the successful completion of maintenance inspections and all required safety checks. The safety of our guests and team members is our highest priority.”
No guests or team members were hit by the bracket and no injuries were reported.
Millennium Force returned to service @CedarPoint on Saturday evening.
Candymonium at Hersheypark has reopened following the Goliath incident! “Based on the information presently available, the manufacturer has not identified an engineering basis to recommend shutting down similarly designed coasters solely because of the incident in Georgia.”

A message from Park President Tony to our Kings Island fans: Our guests and team members are what make this park so special, and their safety will always be our highest priority. We remain committed to making safety the focus of everything we do, every day. Orion and Diamondback will remain closed for the time being. We will share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to see you this weekend.
Thought it was nice they got a former ride op with experience operating Goliath. But at the end when he mentions you can push the restraint open with enough extreme force has to be so false!! With the restraint in click 3, I believe you need to push through all 4 locking pawls to open the restraint!
Sending thoughts and prayers to the victim, their family, and their loved ones. I wish all the best for any witnesses as well. Today’s tragedy is not ok and the industry needs to do better. I hope we get some solid answers as to the cause of this soon. (This is an old picture of Goliath, I haven’t been to SFOG since 2018)
For those of you wondering, most seatbelts on roller coasters are not meant to act as secondary restraints. They're more so measuring devices to ensure riders can be safely secured by the main restraint. In the case of B&M hyper coasters, they typically feature seat sensors which fulfill the same measuring role as seatbelts. This ride model is arguably one of the most ridden out there.
Of all the builds that do not feature seatbelts (most of them), I would say hundreds of millions of riders have safely enjoyed them.
Whatever happened today seems completely out of the ordinary and I hope we have answers soon. But until we have cold hard facts, I don't think it's fair to shame the Six Flags company as a whole.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Six Flags isn't having the best month ... because another ride has broken down, leaving people stuck in the sky.
A witness tells TMZ ... they were at Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York, on Friday when they say the Adirondack Outlaw ride had gotten stuck on its side with people still on it.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Great Escape park is no longer operated by Six Flags. It is now part of Enchanted Parks. The incident was caused by a partial power outage that stopped multiple rides. No one was injured. cbs6albany.com/news/local/par… timesunion.com/news/article/r… sixflags.com/greatescape
Sad to see the park go. I know everyone has the relocation of ArieForce on their mind. That ride is built on 40 ft of elevation change so while relocating it is certainly not impossible, it’s also not super easy
