BREAKING | Reliable Sources Tell Sudanese Echo: UAE Evacuation Aircraft Arrives in Nyala to Transport 13 Wounded and Dead, Including Emiratis, Following Sudanese Airstrikes
Reliable sources in Nyala, the capital of Sudan's South Darfur State, have told Sudanese Echo that a UAE evacuation aircraft arrived at Nyala Airport to transport 13 people, including wounded personnel and the bodies of those killed, among them Emirati nationals, following recent Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) airstrikes on military facilities belonging to the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed).
According to the sources, the evacuation followed strikes on facilities used to direct and coordinate the militia's drone operations in the city. The information obtained by Sudanese Echo indicates that the aircraft was dispatched to evacuate wounded personnel and recover the bodies of those killed in the attacks, including Emirati nationals. Further details regarding the exact number of Emiratis involved and the nature of their activities at the targeted facilities have not yet been established.
The revelations come a day after Sudanese military aircraft carried out a series of strikes on Friday, October 16, 2026, targeting Rapid Support Militia command centers and military positions across Nyala. Military sources previously told Sudanese Echo that the attacks killed dozens of militia fighters and foreign mercenaries and destroyed several command facilities. Sudanese Echo also obtained aerial images showing the aftermath of the strikes, including extensive damage to buildings and structures at several targeted locations.
Sudanese media outlets, citing military sources, also reported that the airstrikes targeted weapons and ammunition depots, an air defense system near the University of Technology, and other military positions across the city.
The reported presence of Emirati nationals among those evacuated is particularly significant amid mounting evidence documented by United Nations investigators concerning foreign military and logistical support networks that have enabled the militia to acquire weapons, drones, and foreign fighters. A leaked final report by the UN Panel of Experts on Sudan, obtained by Sudanese Echo in August 2026, confirmed that the Rapid Support Militia used the N'Djamena-to-Nyala corridor, linking Chad's capital to South Darfur, to transport foreign fighters, mercenaries, and military equipment, including drones and weapons.
The report also stated that the United Arab Emirates supported the militia through the provision of mercenaries and documented networks involved in recruiting, training, and transporting Colombian fighters, including their passage through facilities and bases in Abu Dhabi before being transferred to Sudan through regional routes. These findings shed further light on the role of cross-border supply networks in strengthening the Rapid Support Militia's military capabilities, including its ability to conduct drone operations, as attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure continue across Sudan.
The new information obtained by Sudanese Echo concerning the evacuation of Emirati nationals following strikes on drone command and control facilities raises further questions about the extent of the UAE's involvement in the militia's military operations. In particular, it raises the possibility that Emirati personnel may have been providing technical or operational assistance in managing drone systems, potentially indicating a role extending beyond the supply of weapons, financing, and logistical support. The precise circumstances of their reported presence have yet to be established.
Nyala has become one of the Rapid Support Militia's most important command and logistical hubs in Darfur since the group seized control of the city in October 2023. The militia has used the city as a major base for coordinating its military operations, while Nyala Airport has gained particular importance within its supply network amid reports that it has been used to receive weapons, military equipment, and foreign fighters through UAE-linked support networks.
The reported evacuation comes as the Sudanese Armed Forces intensify air operations against the militia's military infrastructure in Darfur, particularly command centers, drone operations facilities, and supply routes. Sudanese Echo has not yet been able to independently verify the aircraft's identity or the nationalities of all those evacuated.

Sudan’s people are dying in a genocidal war, but don’t worry guys, the minerals are secure!
Today I introduced the Sudan IMPACT Act, which will establish an agricultural and minerals partnership between the United States and Sudan.
Sudan’s mineral resources could help expand the supply of materials we use in technologies Americans rely on every day, like phones and cars.
This legislation offers a path toward greater economic cooperation with the United States and Sudan, provided Sudan’s government shows real progress in protecting its people.

New airstrikes were reported today on a gold mine near Egypt-Sudan 🇸🇩🇪🇬 border, likely the same area struck by the Egyptian army in June.
Today’s strikes appear far deadlier, with dozens of casualties reported. Graphic footage, some too horrific to share, shows dozens of bodies.
