Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have these two in my life. It’s not many times in the vtubing community we find friendships of virtue, let alone in our lives. We love each other so much and I can say that with zero doubt in my mind.
I’m so grateful to have these girls as my rocks and it makes me even happier that our love for each other is seen and felt by others🥹🫶🏻

Is there anything worse than getting scammed by your rigger?
I have my beautiful model art for my 1.0 design for years and it just haunts me now. My model mama doesn’t deserve that. I want to debut but now I’m scared/traumatized and down $2k because my rig artist went ghost. Took my money and all their other clients money and just…. Logged off. How can you do that to another person?

To an extent. Parasocial relationships form quickly and suddenly one of your viewers that you thought was chill now thinks they know you better than anyone else (including yourself) and will break boundary after boundary. It gets out of control fast and while some people think most things like (for example) the constant DMing is harmless, it’s not.
It is dangerous how quickly it turns into obsession. How quickly it turns into them confessing their undying love for you. How quickly it turns into them stalking your every move online to the point where you don’t feel like you have a safe space anywhere anymore. And then you’ll feel stuck. Because objectively, most of the time, these are very nuanced experiences and are hard to explain the discomfort it causes the streamer. The line is fine between it being okay to it being not. Check in with yourself often and don’t be afraid to be firm and ban people who are breaking your boundaries, regardless of them being long standing community members or not. The bottom line is if you are uncomfortable, that’s all that matters for actions to be taken. Stay safe out there!
This is confirmed true btw lol. A lot of these vtubers who debut and come out of nowhere who have never streamed or anything are usually not doing this for the first time. They’re on their 2nd, maybe 3rd or 4th life. They know how the algorithm works. They know how the minds of viewers work. They know how vtuber twitter works.
I could name a few well known indie names but I don’t know how open they are about their past lives. Close friends of mine can confirm the rabbit holes I’ve fallen down finding this information out lol.
A lot of these people just rebrand their old twitch account so they have a foundation to bounce off of. I’ve discovered a few of these 2nd lives by going to their sub page on twitch and noticing that Twitch never updated their URL and it still lists their old username. It’s crazy how gate kept this is and because of that, many vtubers lose motivation and confidence fast.
Don’t beat yourself up and wonder what it is that they have over you when they surpass you in numbers in such a short amount of time. What they have over you is experience and industry connections.
One of my non-VTuber friends sat me down and spent an hour explaining his conspiracy theory about VTuber nepotism.
His argument was that every year a seemingly unknown VTuber appears out of nowhere, immediately starts collabing with some of the biggest names, joins established creator circles/friend groups, and then seemingly blows up overnight despite having little prior presence or following.
He even brought up 3 recent examples of this.
I went into the conversation thinking he was completely insane, but by the end I had to admit he actually had some surprisingly solid points.
His theory is that a lot of “new” indie VTubers who break through aren’t really unknowns at all and that they’re friends or family of established creators being quietly introduced into the scene.
He thinks that to make them more palatable and marketable they’re made out to be small indie creators like me and you, when in reality they have backing, funds from being previously successful creators and a team behind them.
Guys do you think he’s right? 😭
