Our exciting result in post-stroke fatigue finally in print! @EffortLab @Sasha_Synch @DonckerWilliam
Ondobaka et al. report that subjective post-stroke fatigue can be explained by an imbalance in inter-hemispheric inhibition, revealing a new neural mechanism that could ultimately serve as a therapeutic target. bit.ly/3IYqECW

At the beginning of this project I thought I knew what fatigue was - I was wrong. While these works were created with stroke survivours, others with neurological fatigue have felt the work resonate with them. Please share and help us challenge the stigma of 'just being tired'
ENSNARED: The inescapable reality of fatigue
Imagine being able to run a marathon but not be able to brush your teeth. A new collaborative digital exhibition highlights the complexity and challenges of living with #fatigue.

Finally, our study about a possible brain mechanism of post-stroke fatigue is out!! This was such a long drawn study, the first dataset was collected back in 2013!! But well worth the wait 😀 well done @Sasha_Synch @DonckerWilliam @dr_nickward @EffortLab @wellcometrust

Absolutely thrilled by how this project has evolved! Looking forward to take it to the next level!
ENSNARED: The inescapable reality of fatigue
I am so proud to launch this digital exhibition. Developed with people living with post-stroke fatigue, these artworks give an insight into what it is like to live with fatigue going beyond 'feeling tired'

This is an amazing project that took place over the last 1.5 years, making an invisible symptom such as fatigue visible through the stories of stroke survivors. Brought to life through animations, soundscapes and art pieces by the amazing @SofieLayton ! Don't miss out!

Congratulations to @DonckerWilliam who has passed his PhD viva! An interesting thesis and wonderful discussion about fatigue. Congrats also to his supervisor @AnnaKuppuswamy!

In the process of finishing off my thesis on "The mechanisms of Post-Stroke Fatigue" and have come to realise that my entire PhD would not have been possible without the time and effort of all the #stroke survivors that volunteered over the years. Thank you all!

I'm equally excited about this! Fatigue is huge issue and we need global input here!
I'm thrilled this is a-go!
We’ve put our heads together with the UK-based NoTFAST2 study of fatigue after #stroke @AvrilDrummond1 to understand how clinicians currently treat #fatigue.

If fatigue were a colour, what colour would it be?

Thanks to all those who have volunteered and been interviewed. BUT we are FOUR people short! If you have had a stroke and had, or still have, fatigue, we would like to chat to you. Your experiences are really important! 30 mins max (unless you have a lot to tell us!). Please RT!
We want to speak to people who have had a stroke and are struggling with fatigue. We particularly need to hear from minority groups and those who are working as these groups are currently under-represented. Contact details on the flyer. Retweets much appreciated. @AvrilDrummond1

On the topic of fatigue, unfortunately a lot of stroke survivors leave hospital without being made aware that fatigue is a possible symptom. The first step to acknowledging fatigue as a symptom is being made aware that it exists... it is not just you
