Benin culture reference in the Brazilian telenovela titled A Nobreza do Amor.... #ANobrezaDoAmor
- The Oba and his spearmen
- The warriors
- The Queen Idia neck pendant.
Benin kingdom existed and had a long standing relationship with the european nations like Portugal since the late 15th century and all of the official report from the portuguese and subsequent europeans spoke highly about the Benin civilization.
Even early european explorer like fawckner recorded how human sacrifice in Benin wasn't a culture in Benin Kingdom, a record done in 1825..
All of this reports, records and documentation all changed in 1897 from the British invaders point of view, they needed to justify their presence and forceful occupation of Benin Kingdom and one of the way to drive their point was "hundred of people were tortured to death".
Prior to 1897 this lapses barely ever appeared in Benin documentation, Benin is known for it art, court system, guild system, road network, diplomatic ties with the european, the great Benin wall and it can never be reduced to a culture, for a kingdom that stopped slave trade more than 200yrs before europe considered it..
Skirts meant for chiefs "Èkhaémwén" in Benin Kingdom; each skirts with thier own names and worn by different ranks of chiefs to different court functions.
A pathway to Odighi "Arhuaran's lake", a forbidden lake in Benin, that's devoid of any form of human activities.
The lake is believed to be the resting place of Arhuaran the son of Òbá Ozolua and brother of Òbá Esigie, it's believed the water kills whoever come close to it.

The Elawure of usen dukedom...
——
I pity the monkey wey dey put mouth for husband and wife issue"..
Noticed..
The Elawure referred to himself as HRH
The Òbá as HRM
he didn't call usen a 'kingdom' and he didn't use 'òbá' tag on himself all through the congratulatory message...

Èdó Aura!!!
🐆
The aura was so overwhelming our ancestors had to document every part of it in our bronzes, plaque and ivories.
A me conversation
You; why will he wear a gold chain isn't he supposed to propagate our culture and ours alone..
Me: but there's ikele and other beads in his neck arms and legs..
You: but it's wrong
Me: Nope, its not wrong, the Òbá's also wear bronze ornaments too, so whats bad if he wears gold..
You: (after too much Albert propaganda) na too much money wey Dae enter eguae
Me: Shut the f-up, (showed you pictures of the king while in uselu wearing gold Cuban in 2016) it isn't new, why didn't you say something 10yrs ago.
You: but it's wrong sha, this are european ornaments not Benin's, the coral beads is edo..
Me; Ambassador of Benin affairs, do you know coral beads were brought to Benin by the european as a means of trade with the oba as coral beads can only be gotten from the Mediterranean Sea, the èdós bought it from them and created an identity with it... and we distinguished it by calling it ivie-ebo...
You: Na lie e
Me: (use Google showed you were corals came from) so if old Benin could adapt why shouldn't modern Benin adapt, and not that our ancestors aren't aware of gold, so why shouldn't we use it...
You (speechless, since corals comes from the Mediterranean sea), each na you know o, I don talk my own..
Me: yeah from an ozour point of view I understand...

Òbá Ewuare ll 10yrs coronation anniversary 🔥🔥
Did you know!!!
While within the walls of the palace of the Òbá of Benin kingdom, it’s wrong and forbidden to use the phrase “I’m going home/ Ikhian sòwá” when you intend to the leave the palace to your house or home.
The Right and appropriate word to use is “Ikhian sè ódogbe/ I want to reach my Ogbe” this is a code word for the term.
You might use the phrase “I’m going home/ikhian sòwá” and you end up going home to your maker ‘Literally’, as the deities and divinities within the palace agreed to your phrase!!!
