Help. It’s never been harder to be a MG author. The latest blow— @goodreads erasing MG from the Goodreads Choice Awards—comes after so many gutting attacks, decisions and policies that are crushing discoverability of our books. If you love MG, if you want kids to have books that reflect the world around them, we need you to shout from the rooftops about the books u love! Comment below w ur favorite new MG book! Let’s save middle grade together! #MiddleGrade #Publishing

My new idea to get children to illustrate poems by poets has taken off like wildfire. With so few children's poetry books published or still in print in nz, this feels like a vital resource. I have a waiting list of keen young illustrators. So much good in this whole project.

I have a great list of children who are doing reviews for Poetry Box now. They get a copy of the book and a koha book voucher from me. If you know a keen young reader/writer who would like to join my list let me know (Y1 to Y8). Let's celebrate and nourish our young voices. ⭐️🐈‍⬛

We are VERY excited to announce a national week to celebrate School Libraries in Aotearoa NZ. Join us 8-12 August for a celebration of everything we do in our school libraries for our school communities across the motu. Watch this space for some fantastic and fun resources.
Now to find my favourite, and try them on my squabbling teens 😉

I've been making use of this Shakespeare Insult Generator quite a lot lately. You don't even have to use all 3 columns.

This is the super power of a school librarian! 📚❤📚
Kids who READ FOR PLEASURE do better in every way than kids who don't. So whatever else you do, never stop sharing books with kids. Never stop reading to them, and helping them to read. Never stop giving them ways to understand the world, and everyone in it. #literacy

The fact that one of my students asked me if we had a library and I had to say no is so damn shameful. Every single school in this country should have a library.
