A resident's quick thinking and call to 911 helped Edina Police connect a suspect to multiple burglaries in our community.
Earlier this week, a resident called 911 to report a suspicious person checking vehicle door handles near the Edina and St. Louis Park border.
When officers arrived, they located a 35-year-old man riding an e-bike that matched the description of one reported stolen from a home Oct. 11 on Brookview Avenue. That e-bike helped investigators connect the man to an ongoing burglary investigation involving multiple homes and vehicles.
Thanks to the resident who called, multiple residents who sent in surveillance footage of suspicious activity in their neighborhood, and the investigative work of Edina Police officers, the man was arrested and some stolen property was recovered and returned to its owners.
This is a great reminder of how important it is to look out for one another and report suspicious activity! If you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, don't hesitate to call 911. Your call could make all the difference! And, as we head into the colder months, remember to Lock Around the Clock. Make it a habit to lock your vehicles, garage doors and home entrances, even when you're home. Keep valuables out of sight and take a few extra seconds to secure your property to prevent becoming a victim of theft!
