The runtime fee situation and its cancellation brings one song to mind from Kendrick Lamar. #unity #gamedev #indiegamedev #gamedevelopment
Okay #gaming. This is one of several reasons why I'm not a fan of acquisitions. I think we really need to look at the root of the problem which is "why" companies get acquired in the 1st place. It boils down to a strong business infrastructure for indies/AA studios to thrive.
Microsoft has closed down multiple Bethesda studios, including:
-Arkane Austin (Redfall)
-Tango Gameworks (The Evil Witihin, Ghostwire Tokyo)
-Alpha Dog Studios
-Roundhouse Studios

Indies/AA studios want to make great games, but making a game alone doesn't guarantee that a company can thrive/let alone survive. Reinventing revenue streams for small businesses (indies/AA) and partnerships with gamers/other small biz is how I think this can change.
Consistency can be hard especially when the list of things to do becomes overwhelming. If you take a loss, you can always try again even if its just 1 step forward instead of 10. Prevail.
It's crazy to see my timeline of software/tools as a #gamedeveloper. I'm curious what it looks like for other fellow #indiegamedev folks. #indiegame #gamedev
I really think building a brand is the best way to go for indies & new founders. Rolling the dice on media/influencers building content around your game doesn't guarantee long-term exposure for your game studio. Just have to play the long game.
Its great having the humility to learn from people of all walks of life whether they are 12-25 years younger than you or 50-70 years older than you. There's always something you can learn from anyone. Sometimes you need to be a kid and sometimes you need to be a senior.
Sometimes you just have to step away from the work and let rest work on you, so you can finish the work. #gamedev
Wassup #gamedev #indiedev folks. I know for some of us its hard finding the right people for your games and through some searching I found a platform where you can offer points for tasks which convert into revenue share: crowdsourcer.io/
Its a privilege to create games. Super grateful to share and serve in the best medium of entertainment.
Happy Monday X. If you're seeing this that means you're blessed, there's always someone who would love to be in your shoes.
Being an indie game developer taught me about removing unnecessary clutter from my life and focusing on what's important. Always been a simple guy, but really living that minimalist life on this path of game dev.
