Once again, Israel’s apartheid system is turning the olive harvest into a season of horror for Palestinian families across the occupied West Bank. State-driven attacks by settlers on farmers that damage, destroy and steal crops, combined with Israeli military restrictions on access to groves, are causing immense suffering and economic loss for Palestinians.

Not enough people know this: in practice, the IMF is controlled by the US.
The US is the only country that has de facto veto power at the IMF because the biggest decisions require an 85% supermajority of total voting power. The US' vote share is 16.5%
This was by design, and the supermajority threshold was actually moved in 1978 so that the US vote share would continue to give the country veto power.
We should not see the IMF as an organisation that serves global development.
We should see is as an organisation that serves mainly Western interests — and, above all, US interests.

We are honoured to introduce the second edition of the Gaza Verse Journal, Under One Sky: Voices Without Frontiers, in the hope that this journal continues to be a living archive of solidarity, a commanding publication that stands as a citadel of literary and artistic resistance.

It’s actually crazy how you grow up thinking home-cooked meals every day are just normal, then get older and realise how much time and effort it took your Mom to make that happen and how lucky you were to have that.

Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

When men say “feminism ruined everything,” what they often mean is: “I miss the days when women had fewer choices and I had more control.”

More on the Cornell 7 - great reporting by NY newspaper, the Times Union. Lordy, there are tapes!
“Recordings offer a striking firsthand account of a national fraternity official claiming personal access to campus police around the time the department was also investigating the "Cornell 7" case.”
“Within weeks of the Cornell University Police Department investigating an alleged gang rape at the school’s Chi Phi house two years ago, a top official of another national fraternity privately boasted that he could get his “friends” inside the campus police force to brush aside alleged misconduct from his chapter’s members.”
“In one of the recordings, Paese referred to the chief of Cornell’s police department as “a good friend of mine.” Paese also said he and the chief’s “boss, the guy that’s in charge of campus security overall, … go back even farther.””
