It doesn't matter what you are trying to achieve, you will struggle to make significant progress as long as you are afraid of ignoring the rest of the world temporarily.
Everyone is constantly trying to get your attention, and if you don't tightly guard your time and energy, you will just spend your whole life doing everything superficially and achieving nothing substantially.
You might actually even end up with some money and status for being a compliant worker, but you will also feel empty inside, because you will always know that you were merely walking on someone else's path, a joyless and not nearly as meaningful trip.
