Each day this month I’m posing one question — to ponder yourself, discuss with your team, or answer below. My answer to today's question: Luck plays a bigger role in our lives than we're comfortable acknowledging.

Hhmmm smh.com.au/national/nsw/hsc-… “Education Act says HSC must involve public, statewide exams. But there’s another one, too, outlining how students can still be awarded their HSC if they can’t sit the exam; a misadventure process.” I’d say state wide COVID is one big misadventure!

& Yr 12 students WILL feel the pressure, far more than exams & HSC. They'll come onsite, work face to face with staff all of whom go home to families some of whom go to work places. All for the sake of an exam? THIS. DOES. NOT. MAKE. SENSE! @GladysB @BradHazzard @smitchellmlc

How to praise like a pro: - Praise the process, not the person. - Praise what your child has control over. - Don’t praise by comparison. - Beware of praise inflation. - Rather than praise, offer descriptive feedback. nytimes.com/2020/08/13/paren…

Being brave is hard work. You can be brave, or you can be comfortable, but you can’t be both. You have to choose.

In these last weeks we have seen extraordinary work by many women journalists, keeping a focus on issues which have too long been unspoken. Dismissing this as a “crusade” or “unapologetic activism” undermines their work and deliberately misses the point.

If the Morrison government wants to clear the air about A-G Christian Porter, the only way to do it is an enquire, headed by a retired Judge, to enquire into the matter. THAT way, the Rule of Law can be upheld

Not just a great idea.. it’s THE idea/initiative which needs to evolve into the new normal, during our ‘covid moment’. A wonderful and empathetic approach to create a space for our kids to be successful. ATAR 95?= congratulations, you’ve made it- now what would YOU like to do?

End of school credentials so much more than an ATAR. Learner profiles make good sense. We should be doing this already, some schools and units already are. Let’s start now! @JordsBaker smh.com.au/education/call-fo… via @smh #education – at Sydney, New South Wales

Policy makers & shapers in Education don’t get it. It’s not the “what” that is important as this is always contested space. It the “how” that is critical, student agency and staff efficacy is the focus as they do the work. Trust them don’t control them
