A vision for an organization is not meant to be a secret. It should be shared widely and often.
If you are going to play the trumpet, play the trumpet! #LeadershipMatters

Leaders empower and grow leaders, guiding, watching, protecting... sharing with others what was shared with them. #LeadershipMatters

The issue had not yet been resolved, but the parent left the superintendent’s office feeling much calmer than when she arrived. She knew she had been heard. She knew there was a plan. And she trusted that the superintendent would do what she said she would do.
Later, a friend might ask, “How do you know the superintendent took you seriously?”
Her answer would be simple: “Because she wrote it down.”

A teammate walks into your office with a monkey on their back: a complaint, a difficult decision, or a problem that needs attention. After a few minutes together, they leave feeling much better.
There is only one problem: the monkey is now sitting on your desk.
The next time someone brings you a problem, pause before accepting it as your own. Ask yourself: Does this person need me to solve the problem, or do they need me to help them grow through it?
Leadership is not measured merely by how many problems we can personally solve. It is also measured by the capacity we build in others.

The intention to make a lasting difference is not enough. Intention fails when it is not accompanied by attention.
Without intention at the outset and attention throughout, we hope to accomplish something instead of making meaningful progress.

So the principal shows up.
Not to inspect.
Not merely to be visible.
But to listen.
To learn.
To encourage.
To support.
To connect.
To lead.
Again.
And again.
And again.
In classrooms.
