Thank you for posting this link Bill. Largely due to your introduction, I had the honor of working closely with George Kelling. People cannot discount the importance of his work.
Anthony Braga and I were just discussing this article. We need more police/public health collaborations to improve public safety. The strategies work!
An important article reinforcing the importance of the misunderstood and inappropriately maligned Broken Windows philosophy. In my lectures, I often cite the relationship between medicine and policing in that both professions are authorized to use ‘force’ including ‘deadly force,’ but to always do it appropriately using the least amount of force (or medicine). You don't want a police officer using excessive force and you don't want a doctor using excessive amounts of medicine inappropriately (too much chemo or radiation for example). Both professions/practices need to be committed to the principle, “do no harm,” while attempting to treat people or correct behavior while trying to prevent the growth of the identified illness or disorder. city-journal.org/article/bro…

My sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Minister Don. He was a vital advisor during my 7 years as Boston police commissioner. Minister Don Muhammad was a good friend and a good man. We will miss him.

Congratulations to @NYCSanitation Jessica Tisch. Mayor Adams made an excellent appointment to the position of Police Commissioner at the NYPD. Jessica has always been a consummate professional. She understands policing from the inside and the outside. This is excellent news for the citizens of New York City.
It was an honor to be with Domingo Herraiz doing the keynote for the 50th anniversary of the IACP technology committee. thanks to everyone there for their service.
I cannot understate the importance of the FirstNet authority. They guarantee that vital communication among first responders is maintained. I was honored to address with this exceptional team.
At the latest Patriot Siren leadership meeting, the @FirstNetGov executive team heard from @EdDavis3 about his experiences leading the Boston Police Dept. during the Boston Marathon bombing and the importance of preparedness, comms, and partnerships. Thank you, Commissioner!

What an uplifting morning, gathering with so many former colleagues at the #Bedford #Veterans campus to honor @LowellPD and #boxing legend Mickey O’Keefe - a cop’s cop, and an unforgettable piece of LPD’s legacy @CityofLowellMA #Lowell #TheFighter
Hard to follow remarkable speech by FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate at the EDGE23 Security Summit in San Diego. Honored to join former Assistant FBI Director Jeff Salet and BAA former president Tom Grilk presenting on changes to policing in last 10 years.

.@FBIBoston Special Agent in Charge Joe Bonavolonta has been a true friend to @msosheriff & myself. Today he retires after a distinguished 27-year @FBI career. His sterling service – much like his Dad’s – will no doubt inspire future generations of law enforcement.
This week I was honored to provide testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on #HomelandSecurity and #GovermentalAffairs regarding the 2013 attacks at the finish line of our #BostonMarathon - many of the lessons learned from that day can still resonate…lnkd.in/eBEyBwnh
