Sadly, this is how schools expect students to respond to violence, to sit there and get the shit beat out of their faces. Self defense isn’t tolerated in schools and is even punished by suspension. Raise a hand to defend yourself and you’re as in as much trouble as your attacker. I was bullied mercilessly throughout school after skipping a grade. I was already a small kid, so I became two years younger than my classmates while physically smaller than even kids my own age. I became an easy target for bullies. Teachers knew who the bullies were but failed to protect me from them. I was even beaten so severely on a school bus in the eighth grade that my parents had to home school me for the rest of the year. When they challenged the principal why he couldn’t protect me, he responded that maybe I had brought it on myself. What kind of sick person suggests that a tiny 12 year old deserves to get the shit beat out of him by high schoolers on a bus? I became an elite special operator in Pararescue and achieved the rank of Chief largely to help defend those who could not defend themselves. I dont like bullies or the systems that support or encourage them. Public schools foster, support, and encourage bullies with their anti-self-defense policies. Weaker, smaller kids are expected to do like the kid in this video did and just get the shit beat out of them by their tormentors. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t make an instructional public service video from it to teach kids how to avoid getting suspended in the event someone bullies them.
