β’ @EcobankRW has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinaβs Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) to strengthen Renminbi (RMB) payment connectivity between China and Africa.
β’ The partnership aims to simplify cross-border payments, reduce settlement complexity and improve access to payment and clearing channels for businesses trading across the two regions.
β’ The agreement comes as ChinaβAfrica bilateral trade reached approximately $348 billion in 2025, reinforcing the need for efficient financial infrastructure.
β’ Ecobank Group CEO Jeremy Awori said the partnership would help importers, exporters and other businesses operate more efficiently across African and Chinese markets.
β’ Ecobank has operated in China since 2012 and serves 34 African markets through its pan-African banking network.
