2027 ELECTIONS: IT IS TIME TO PUT LAGOSIANS FIRST The Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lagos State, HE Funso Doherty, declared, “My Dear Lagosians, For too long, we have endured a government that is disconnected from the aspirations, hopes, and pains of the people. Though the Almighty God has blessed us with abundant human and natural resources, our leaders in government, in whose hands those resources are entrusted, continue to prioritise narrow and self-serving interests over the welfare of the wider populace. As a result, most Lagosians cannot make ends meet, and more and more of us are daily sinking deeper and deeper into poverty. Many of our young people face near-insurmountable obstacles to get started in life, to earn a livelihood and to rent a home, let alone dream of one day owning one.” These words capture a fundamental question that every Lagosian must ask: **What is the true purpose of the government if the people continue to struggle despite living in a state with enormous economic potential? Lagos is Nigeria's commercial nerve centre, a state driven by enterprise, innovation, creativity, and the resilience of millions of hardworking residents. From our markets and small businesses to our industries, professional services, and technology sector, Lagosians contribute immensely to the economic life of our state and our nation. Yet, for too many residents, this economic activity has not translated into a better quality of life. The rising cost of living continues to place unbearable pressure on households. Food, transportation, accommodation, healthcare, and education consume an increasing share of family incomes. Workers struggle to meet their basic needs, small businesses battle mounting operating costs, and many parents find it increasingly difficult to provide their children with the opportunities they deserve. For millions, the daily struggle is no longer simply about getting ahead; it is about staying afloat. A government must not measure its success only by the wealth generated within its territory, but by how effectively that wealth and economic opportunity improve the lives of its people. Our young people deserve particular attention. They are talented, energetic, resourceful, and full of ideas, yet too many face serious barriers to employment, entrepreneurship, affordable housing, and financial independence. A young graduate should not have to abandon ambition because decent work is difficult to find. A young entrepreneur should not have to give up on a promising business because the environment makes survival almost impossible. And a hardworking young professional should have a realistic opportunity to rent a decent home and, eventually, aspire to homeownership. Our women, traders, artisans, transport workers, civil servants, teachers, healthcare professionals, and small business owners also deserve a government that recognises their daily struggles and creates an enabling environment for them to prosper. This is why leadership matters. The resources of Lagos belong to the people, and their management must reflect the interests and aspirations of the people. Public office is a responsibility to serve, not a privilege to be used for personal enrichment or political advantage. The Nigeria Democratic Congress believes Lagos can do better. We believe governance must be anchored on accountability, transparency, responsible management of public finances, inclusive economic growth, and policies that create opportunities for ordinary residents. Under the leadership vision of HE Funso Doherty, the NDC campaign is advancing the case for a Lagos where government works for the people. A New Lagos is Possible! A Lagos where government listens, engages, advocates, and delivers. Ọ̀NÀ TUNTUN; O Ti Ya! #FunsoDoherty #NDCLagos #ANewLagosIsPossible #ONATUNTUN #OTiYa #NDCTopToBottom

The moment an official of the National Human Rights Commission in Uyo reportedly attempted to assault a man who came to seek their services. According to the man, the officials were making jokes about him, but what angered him the most was when one of them reportedly told him that whatever frustration that had brought him there, he would continue to experience it for the rest of his life. It’s really sad how some Nigerians behave when they find themselves in positions of authority. They act as though the world revolves around them. However, I believe there are still good ones out there who genuinely care about the people they serve.

Our sister is calling out Deji for his constant focus on Obi. Deji seems to believe he can criticize everything Obi says, yet he rarely directs the same energy toward holding the government accountable. Instead, he appears more interested in Obi than challenging those in power.

"Okpebholo may work against Tinubu in 2027 if his current anger & disappointment towards the President is sustained. The Presidency has consistently ignored him despite all his “efforts”. The latest move for the President to choose Delta State over Edo has ignited more anger in the Governor. Oshiomole is also in tears." Mr Commonsense

Okpe people have supported this government for a long time, yet there is little or nothing to show for that support. I have been an industry man for more than 30years. I understand what development requires, and I know the potential of the River Ethiope behind us here in Aghalokpe. I know what can be done with resources like this. My goal is to industrialise Delta, create jobs, attract investment and turn the resources around our communities into real economic opportunities for our people. #ResetDelta

“Is it because tinubu is yoruba, is that why we are non-chalant? Is that why we are quiet? tinubu, your government is a government of languish, it’s not a good government at all. A wicked government that does not care about the masses, a government of hunger. Let’s speak truth to this man, they’re about to start selling petrol for N2000, who will buy it?….” — the moment Alfa gave tinubu a piece of his mind.

“The reason why what is happening in Nigeria keeps happening is because all of us enable it. The day we say enough, it will come to an end.” ~ Peter Obi (Manchester, England) The rot in Nigeria is not powered only by those in power. It is powered by the millions who have learned to live with it, profit from it, or look away from it. Every bribe paid to jump a queue, every silence when a public office is looted, every vote traded for rice or cash, every “it is not my business” when a neighbour is cheated these are the small daily acts that keep the system alive. Those in authority understand this. They know that as long as the people keep adjusting, complaining on social media and then returning to the same habits, nothing fundamental will change. Peter Obi’s words in Manchester are not just another speech. They are a mirror. He is saying the problem is not only the leaders we point at; it is also the collective permission we give them through our daily choices. The day that permission is withdrawn when enough people decide they will no longer enable the system, no longer look away, no longer trade their conscience for temporary gain that is the day the cycle breaks. Until then, the suffering continues, not only because of those who steal, but because too many of us still make it possible.

₦50,000 TODAY, BACK TO POVERTY TOMORROW! IS THIS EMPOWERMENT? How long will we continue to celebrate the sharing of money as development in Delta State? The government claims to have spent ₦5 BILLION empowering 100,000 people with ₦50,000 each. But the question remains, what happens when the ₦50,000 finishes? Where are the factories? Where are the industries? Where are the jobs for our graduates and young people? Our people are not lazy! They need opportunities, not endless handouts! Imagine what ₦5 billion invested in productive industries and sustainable businesses can do for our people. We cannot continue to fight poverty by temporarily relieving it. We must create opportunities that lift people out of it permanently! DELTA STATE DESERVES JOBS, NOT JUST HANDOUTS! #ResetDelta #DCI2027 #DeltaDeservesBetter #DeltaState2027
