GOOGLE ANNOUNCES MAJOR QUANTUM COMPUTING BREAKTHROUGH WITH IMPLICATIONS FOR BITCOIN SECURITY
Google Quantum AI researchers have achieved 99.99% logical fidelity in producing “magic states” on the company’s 105-qubit Willow processor, reducing errors by 40x.
The breakthrough, published in Science, addresses one of the biggest engineering bottlenecks preventing quantum computers from scaling to the point where they could threaten Bitcoin’s cryptography.
Earlier this year, Google published research suggesting that breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography could require fewer than 500,000 physical qubits, roughly 20x fewer than previous estimates.
That was an algorithmic breakthrough, demonstrating how an attack could theoretically be performed with fewer resources.
Today’s announcement represents a complementary hardware breakthrough, demonstrating progress toward making the necessary quantum operations reliable and less resource-intensive.
While this does not mean Bitcoin’s cryptography can be broken today, it represents another significant step toward cryptographically relevant quantum computers.
The timeline for a potential quantum threat to Bitcoin remains uncertain, but the case for accelerating Bitcoin’s transition toward quantum-resistant cryptography continues to strengthen.

Following the news of the new Oddie District project the first World Mobile store alongside our U.S. HQ and R&D lab upgrade and expansion comes Q1 2027. World Mobile's appeal and ethos isn't a niche segment. I believe it commands and is worthy of mass broad market appeal. This activation will showcase what we do differently and why we do what we do.
I've always believed in the in-store experience and have felt it has stagnated for far too long. With the return of key brands across multiple industries reopening in the physical space and a desire for in-person product viewing and that true white glove experience... a storefront has to be that experience. This store concept is inspired by countless hours of my own research and data points on existing friction points in the existing industries in-store experience to truly bring back the excitement of the in-store experience. Where every interaction, even without a transaction, brings you coming back for more.
A place for World Mobile community gatherings with key summits, hackathons, hardware & software launch parties, like the world used to have, to giveaways and exclusive items across gear, accessories and software you can't find anywhere else.
Buy the network and take it home. Activate the Sharing Economy same day. This space we're growing into isn't just for us, it's for the community of Reno - Tahoe included. Today I was invited by a local college to speak with students about entrepreneurship. The thing that stayed with me is that these young people have real dreams, but even at this age they are already scared to go off track.
I told them the World Mobile story. We started in Zanzibar with a few hundred users and one simple idea: people should own the network they pay for. Operators told us it couldn't be done. Regulators told us it couldn't be done. Plenty of investors told us it couldn't be done. Today that idea has connected more than 3 million previously unconnected adults and 300,000 children across three continents.
The "you can't" has never stopped, and the last few weeks have been louder than ever. After the bridge attack, people rushed to write us off. Numbers have been twisted, history has been rewritten, and things have been said about me and this company that are simply not true. Some of it has come from people who once stood beside us.
So here is what I told the students, and it's what I'm telling our community. Your life will be full of people telling you what you can and can't do: loved ones, friends, business partners, investors and complete strangers. Some will even lie about you. Listen to criticism that makes you better. Ignore the people who only want you to stop or want you to fail.
There will be times when it looks like you're failing. That is a moment in time, not the end of the story. Stick to your guns. Bring the drive, the determination and the grit, and make sure the idea underneath it all is logical and sound. What matters isn't where you are today. What matters is where you end up.
World Mobile isn't stopping, and neither should those students. We are building, and I want them building too. Every one of them will hear "you can't" more times than they can count. We hear it every day. The answer is the same for all of us: keep going and smash through everything in your way.

But wait, is that all? Not even close. There’s a lot more to this than meets the eye.
Imagine keeping your wallet offline while still being able to make transactions.
Fewer ways for hackers to reach it, less exposure to malicious websites… There’s a lot to like about that.
Of course, no technology can prevent every scam or theft, but reducing the opportunities for an attack is already a pretty big deal.
And there’s another side to this I really like. It could bring crypto transactions to places where there’s a phone connection but no internet access. Think about how many more people that could reach.
