Thanks to those joining us from all around the state today at our 2025 Childcare Summit! Childcare affordability and access remain among Indiana's most pressing issues and we're happy to bring stakeholders together to discuss. In our lunchtime session (pictured), our VP Camille Blunt moderated a panel featuring Justin Armstrong of AYS; Sherry Grate of Ambassador Enterprises; Jennifer Myers of Monroe Smart Start; Dr. Rita Shourds of Align Southern Indiana; and Tyler Stock of Welborn Baptist Foundation. This was just one of many agenda items, which also included roundtable discussions. The Summit was held in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF). Our recently released childcare report, “Untapped Potential: How Childcare Impacts Indiana’s Workforce Productivity and the State’s Economy,” found that Indiana misses an estimated $4.22 billion annually for the state’s economy, including a $1.17 billion annual loss in tax revenue, due to childcare issues. Developed in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Early Learning Indiana, the report is part of a broader ongoing study of over a dozen U.S. states that reveals the related costs and opportunities for states, employers and working parents. View the report at indianachamber.com/education. Along these lines, we interviewed Aleisha Wilson of Evansville-based Building Blocks today for our February 2025 edition of BizVoice®. Founded in 1969, Building Blocks is a childcare resource center serving 28 counties in southern Indiana. We look forward to highlighting its efforts. #childcare
