This. Is. Vile. When politicians and others make these types of statements they normalise violence against sex workers. Sex workers have a right to say no at any time. When you suggest they don’t, you give actual abusers a free pass. It’s also inaccurate & horribly offensive.

This attitude puts SWs at greater risk because it reinforces the idea that harm is inevitable.
SWs are afraid to report to police, ask family & friends for help, scared to use the justice system because they're afraid they'll be told it was their fault for being in the industry.

The #sextrade is inherently violent and sometimes that violence turns lethal.
Serial killers often target individuals living on the margins of society, and individuals in #prostitution are prime targets.
