Perer Grotier is 76 today. I was at his debut at Spurs on 19/04/69, it was the game where Bobby Moore and Jimmy Greaves had a little jig. This came at the end of a week when 18 year old Peter played a Youth Team game an 'A' team game and 2 Reserve games. Peter played 54 First Team West Ham games βš’οΈ

My first season attending. Trev was nowhere near the finished article at that stage and most other first division clubs had big stars too.
How did we not win a trophy with 5 of our greatest ever Legends, Moore, Hurst, Peters, Brooking and Bonds in the same team? βš’οΈ

@EXHammers *please share* West Ham United - The Alan Pardew Years - Part 8 - You Don't Know What You're Doing - Oct-Nov 2004. Pardew can't get the combination right. One win in five is not good enough. something has to change. youtu.be/hCE7xxufjpw?is=FYzb…

Mark Ward is celebrating his 64th Birthday today. John Lyall signed @mark7ward in August 1985 and he went on to play 209 games for West Ham - including every game during the 3rd place finish 'Boys of '86' season. 'Wardy' was runner-up to Billy Bonds as Hammer of his Year 1987 βš’οΈ

John's cracking goal v Liverpool at the South Bank end in 1968-69 brings back happy memories.
Legend Johnny Sissons is 81 today. He played 266 games scoring 53 goals for West Ham, including the youngest to score in an FA Cup Final. By 19 he had won the FA Youth Cup, a European Trophy with England U18's, FA Cup and Charity Shield (shared) 1964 and ECWC at Wembley in 1965 βš’οΈ

Shambolic first half all round. Kilman as weak as p*** as per. All Bowen has done is pass the ball back to a defender four or five times.

Great pro and natural leader. After his late winner to beat Villa - a pen at the South Bank end - in the QF of our 1980 winning FA Cup run, Ray said it was the day he felt he was accepted by fans and became a 'Jockney'.
Ray Stewart 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @WestHam 'Tonka' Joined from Dundee United in August 1979 for a fee of £430,000, he broke records at the time as Britain's most expensive teenager. Ludek Miklosko famously denied Manchester United in 1995, but he also played out of his skin against them in April 1992. West Ham won 1-0, and four days later Leeds secured the title. Pick of his saves? This incredible stop from Mark Hughes. RIP Ludo. A thorn in Man Utd’s side.

To think, all Ludo cost was Β£300k from Banik Ostrava. Lou Macari pulled off one of the club's greatest ever deals right there - even though our manager went AWOL on the day Ludo made his debut at Swindon. He must have wondered what he'd let himself in for but it turned out great.
It is with deep and profound sadness that West Ham United announces the passing of legendary former goalkeeper and coach, LudΔ›k MikloΕ‘ko. Rest in peace LudΔ›k, our beloved, inspirational goalkeeper and gentle giant of a man.

Let's be honest, to get promoted we only need to continue playing less crappier than most of the other crappy teams in this crap league. That's all it requires.

The London Challenge Cup was a 'Reserve' team cup. West Ham reserves played in the Football Combination and there were some big West Ham names in this line-up, including FA Cup Winners Eddie Bovington and Pat Holland and ECWC Winner Brian Dear βš’οΈ
