Today millions of households will start to benefit from @andyburnham's first policy as Prime Minister — zero VAT on their electricity bills.
A welcome measure that will help allay cost pressures going into winter.
However the EV charging industry and driver groups are united in calling on government to go one step further.
Zero VAT on home electricity widens the 'driveway divide' between those who can charge an EV at home and the estimated 10 million households who cannot to over £200.
So we're calling on the PM to end the divide in an open letter signed by:

The UK Government just launched its #ZEV Mandate consultation, reviewing the pathway to 2030 and 2035.
As the transition gathers pace, the focus should be on removing the barriers stopping drivers from making the switch, not weakening the ambition.

A reminder that the industry's calls to weaken the ZEV mandate will ultimately slow EV supply to the used market, where most of us buy our cars

"Cutting red tape so renters and those without driveways can charge at home is exactly the kind of common-sense reform drivers have been crying out for. It’s a big step towards fairer, cheaper and more accessible charging for everyone.”

⚡ The Government plans to make home charging easier and cheaper, mandating #EV chargepoints in covered car parks and consulting on removing planning permission for cross-pavement gullies.
This could mean charging from just 2p per mile and saving up to £250 in fees.
