The EU is calling on international partners to join the EU-led “No Fees/No Tolls” pledge to reject coercive, unilateral actions and oppose unlawful fees, tolls and restrictions that hamper lawful navigation. Maldivian opposition leader, MDP President and former UNGA 76th President @abdulla_shahid met EU Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Maria Carmen Moreno Raymundo, in a meeting focused on strengthening EU–Maldives relations with a strong emphasis on safeguarding media freedom and protecting democratic space in the country.The press, widely regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy, is facing growing concerns over shrinking space for free expression in the Maldives under the present PNC regime.
