The East Texas Food Bank received a generous donation of 40,000 pounds of nonperishable food items today from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Canned items included oats, sugar, pasta, flour and dry milk.

The East Texas Food Bank wants to thank everyone that participated to fight hunger during Hunger Action Month in September. Check out these highlights from a few events we had last month.

TODAY! Order lunch or dinner at either Jersey Mike's locations in Tyler (1690 S. Beckham and 4754 S. Broadway) and a portion of proceeds will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank. Have a meal and give meals to our neighbors.

The East Texas Food Bank received this week 280,000 eggs from the state of Texas that will be distributed through our pantry partners in our 26 county region. The statewide distribution of over seven million eggs to Texas food banks was part of a state settlement.

Thank you Schulman Theatres and Film Alley Longview for providing over 10,000 meals for our East Texas neighbors recently. Funds were raised from their Summer Family Film Festival.

We are thankful to [Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation/@sproutsfnd] for their generous grant of $5,000, which will go toward supporting our Longview Resource Center Powered by SWEPCO. With this grant, we’re able to provide 25,000 meals!

Still a couple days left to enjoy a Chicken & Waffles entree and give back to the East Texas Food Bank. For each Chicken & Waffles item sold through Saturday, September 26th, restaurants in Longview, Lufkin, Nacogdoches and Tyler will donate $2 to the ETFB.

In this month's Partner Spotlight, we are featuring Noonday Community Food Pantry. Open every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., their food pantry serves approximately 300 families each month.

The East Texas Food Bank honored two recipients Tuesday in Lufkin with Hunger Hero Awards as part of Hunger Action Month. AARP Lufkin received the Community Partner Hunger Hero Award and The Pineywoods Foundation received the Community Partner Hunger Hero Award.

It's time for our next update in the Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive between Longview and Tyler! Tyler has gained some ground over the past few days, but Longview is still leading with 2,846 pounds of peanut butter collected.

Now's the perfect time to try (or eat again) the new Chicken & Waffles entree at Chick-fil-A! From now through September 26th, $2 will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank for each Chicken & Waffles sold at participating East Texas Chick-fil-A restaurants.

☀️ It was a very busy summer for our Summer Food Program! Over 127,600 meals were served at 42 locations throughout our service area, an increase of 43% from 2025. With 1 in 4 children facing hunger in East Texas, this program plays such an important role when school is out.

It's time for our first update in the Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive between Longview and Tyler! So far, our reigning champion from last year Longview is ahead with 259 pounds of peanut butter collected to Tyler's 64 pounds of peanut butter collected.

SWEPCO continues to show up for our neighbors in-need. One of the most important things they do for us is donating their time. They make regular visits to our Longview Resource Center, powered by SWEPCO Foundation, to help with our day-to-day operations.
