We are prepping our store in Tallahassee and grateful for our employees who have been doing all the necessary steps to protect us from any damage. Praying for the Big Bend and all our friends in the area 🙏🏼. This is a serious one!
#Helene Update:
Helene has been upgraded to a hurricane, with the National Hurricane Center expecting winds to reach 125 mph over the next 36 hours, making it a Category 3 Hurricane with the possibility of reaching Category 4 strength as it approaches landfall.
Our area can anticipate the arrival of tropical storm force conditions beginning Thursday afternoon with hurricane force winds of 110+ mph at peak and up to 8 inches of rain. These impacts would be unprecedented for Tallahassee.
Mutual aid crews from 9 states, including Missouri, Louisiana, Ohio, North Carolina, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan, and Florida, are arriving today. By the end of today, we will have tripled our resources for storm response and recovery.
City administrative offices and services will close on Thursday and Friday.
Prepare now.
Excited to see this book in print cause it’s an important one to add to your shelf. @jessefordj and I have a chapter in it on anti-racism and leadership discourses. Thanks for the invitation @CameronCarl and Amber!

Unsurprisingly, “liberation” has been co-opted by colleges and universities. In this article, I help leadership educators understand liberation and what commitments are necessary to advance it, challenging institutionalization along the way. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Ms. Olean said when she opened at 7 am, the wind blew her doors wide open. She got everything cooked this morning, but since she doesn’t have any power, she’s giving away the food she has to the community.

The charter between higher education and society must be rethought now more than ever. In our opener to this @ChangeHigher special issue, @Salt225 and I invite pauses and present possible solutions to promote a more liberatory public good function.

Looking for insight on #PSLF - the loan consolidation app requires you to recertify your IDR and the payment projection is now saying I owe over $900 in monthly payments (5x more than current). With the recertification extension my IDR plan goes till Feb 2025. WTH is going on?
